Ugh....awful. Have fun blinding everyone else on the road and getting worse light output than you would with a good H4 conversion...

Yes....I really dislike people who put the looks of their car when it's parked somewhere with the lights on over the safety of other people driving on the road with them and themselves.

Well, unfortunately for you LT1 guys, there are very few options out there. There are so few cars that use that size bulb that their are no aftermarket housings available that I have ever seen.

I have seen people buy new, good quality bulbs, and then take them apart and mod them to run a higher quality halogen bulb.

I did a HID conversion on my truck and it worked out perfectly. My truck came with composite lights to start. I think that that's trick to having a good HID conversion. I originally tried an aftermarket eBay replacement housing with terrible results. If the housing that you are using is not a quality piece it'll scatter light all over the place. If you are replacing a sealed beam setup you need to make sure that the replacement housings you are using are optically correct. In general if you are taking stock sealed beams and converting them you will have poor results and will blind most motorists. Otherwise you'll end up having to align them so low so not to blind oncoming traffic that you won't get any benefit from them.

Art.

And JersyBoyy, this is the general idea of the entire article I posted:

Quote:
What about the law, what does it have to say on the matter? In virtually every first-world country, HID "retrofits" into halogen headlamps are illegal. They're illegal clear across Europe and in all of the many countries that use European ECE headlight regulations. They're illegal in the US and Canada. Some people dismiss this because North American regulations, in particular, are written in such a manner as to reject a great many genuinely good headlamps. Nevertheless, on the particular count of HID "retrofits" into halogen headlamps, the world's regulators and engineers all say DON'T!

The only safe and legitimate HID retrofit is one that replaces the entire headlamp—that is lens, reflector, bulb...the whole system—with optics designed for HID usage. In the aftermarket, it is possible to get clever with the growing number of available products, such as Hella's modular projectors available in HID or halogen, and fabricate your own brackets and bezels, or to modify an original-equipment halogen headlamp housing to contain optical "guts" designed for HID usage (though it should be noted that "cooking" the lens off a composite headlamp, installing HID optics and re-sealing the lens creates major problems of its own, and does not result in a legal headlamp).
