Rebuilding the RRrrrrr6

Back in August I had a low speed slide that damaged a large amount of my plastics on my bike and put me in the hospital for a few days. With my will to ride unbroken I set out to rebuild my bikes apperance and try to set it a little apart from the rest of the group. After getting jerked around by Cali Cars & Bikes on a V. Rossi replica I ended up contacting Auctmarts on Ebay and having a on off 03-05 Body work done up after Colin Edwards Leguna Seca bike. I finally got my fairings and immediately went to work on them! Of course a lot of the holes needed to be opened up some more and I'm having some fitment issues on the under tail but over all I can't complain to much since I knew what I was potentially getting into with China aftermarket, but I must say the paint job is pretty dam good! Well I'll let the rest do the talking!

Busted up:

Street Fighter:

Inspiration:

Fresh from China!

Stock windshield, and underneath is a PitTech DB that is being painted blue.

Carbon Fiber Stay:

Attaching heat Shielding

The one thing that bothers me is this dumb Spiderman sticker that was cleared over & my proposed ideas to cover it and complete the solo seat.

I'll be having decals made for the tank as well to complete the stars & stripes theme, and covering them with some stomp-grip. I also have a set of Black Pazzo shorties on their way, and as soon as it starts to snow I'll be having my rear set powder coated black and adding carbon fiber heel guards to complete the look. I love this bike to death and want to complete the look. Eventually down the road I'll get a Termignoni exhaust to complete it.

I have to get new clips for the headlight fairing and a few bolts need to be replaced that were scratched so I'll update as I get more work done. Hope you like & enjoy!

alex if i were you i wouldnt go too crazy trying to cover the spiderman sticker......i would

a. get a spare tank guard and trim it to fit there and stick on
b. get some matching blue vinyl and put it right on that one piece

you dont want the tail to get so busy it takes away from the rest of the bike, and remember when your sitting on it, that sticker is hidden anyway

Ok, I gotta ask. How does this all work, if someone stickers up their car to look like a "race car" everyone around here cries rice and makes all the fnf and typeR jokes. So why is it that doing the vinyl horse power thing to a bike is cool?

To me it looks like it is a pep boys spoiler away from being the star of StreetFire movie.

Because replica fairings are cheaper then OEM? The money I saved on buying aftermarket is allowing me to by more performance mods for it.

You'll get no argument from me, at least it still function unlike a Civic with a wing and pipe.

in bikes, its a little more accepted. it makes yours stand out.

however some hardcore racers still will complain, and will mock people with done up bikes, ie un-needed parts, chrome, pointless extended swingarms.. or people who dont know how to ride or just ride to try to be cool. they call them squids, thats the bike equvalent for ricer/.

i got called a squid a few years ago cuz i went on a forum and asked about chrome extended swingarms... then i had to explain it was because i was planning on a 25 shot of nitrous, and all was well.

Nice shot!

Is that black tape or a photochop over the spiderman sticker?

Just a tid bit about the actual bike I'm replicating, but its a one off Special Edition Yamaha M1 rode by Colin Edwards at Leguna Seca in 2007. His nickname is the Texas Tornado and all his custom painted bikes are very patriotic. He's a two time World Superbike champion and has competed in MotoGP since 2003, now riding for the Yamaha Tech 3 team.

Fiat sponsors Team Yamaha.
