opinions on the lincoln ls

So I think I am going to be getting rid of my camaro or at least stop driving it until I can afford to do the things I want to do to it. I seem to have all these problems with it that I just can't deal with the stress / time of fixing it with school and work and all. So, my worse case scenario is i sell it, and best case is i park it for a year or two until i graduate and then do what i want with it, either way it looks like i am getting a newer car (used but newer.) I have been looking around at some used cars, and I really like the look / power of the Lincoln LS V8's. Does anyone have any opinions / know of any problems they have? Oldest I would go is 2000 and the newest is 2003 or 4. I have a few in mind that I may go look at one of these weekends and test drive it. My roomates dad has one and they loved it, but he got a company car and didn't need it anymore. So let me know what you guys think.

A friend of mine has one and loves it. It's not bad, a little underpowered but comfortable.

ehh my mom has an older one (like 2001) with the v8. The car is pretty quick, definitely comfortable, however in our experience the car is a lemon. Mechanically, it shares alot of components with jaguar which says a lot off the bat. The message thing in the dash is constantly reading that things are wrong, oil needs to be changed, filters need to be changed, etc. no matter what you do to the car, reset the computer, change the stuff, etc. So far all four window motors have been replaced, the seat backs are falling apart, the chrome rims were cutting up the tires and lincoln made my dad buy four new rims. The car has had fan problems twice, the trunk floods in the rain, the 3rd break light burns out all the time, passenger side headlight burns out all the time. One time only the driver rear door would unlock with the keyfob, all the others would stay locked. We also had a problem with the traction control not working which was an expensive fix. We've taken it back twice because the breaks make this shimmy feeling when you stop. None of these problems came about until the 36k mile warranty ended, of course. My mom bought hers used with 20k and it now has 80k, it's driven by my mom to work only so it's never abused or anything. It's a sharp car but I wouldn't recommend one.

V8. I wasn't that impressed with the power. I'd still definitely rock one as a daily driver.

sounds like you need to take it somewhere that knows what they are doing. will cost some coin though from the sound of it.

they are nice cars but around the shore esp, they rust out bad underneath. the metal brake lines are usually the first victim. fuel lines next. when you check it out, get it up off the ground or crawl underneath. make sure the air ride is working properly. there is an on/off switch in the trunk when you jack it up.

coated brake lines are a must when you replace them.

Ford's always have problems with brake lines.

The LS is the closest Ford has ever gotten to having a true performance sedan. It does share its platform with the X or S type...forgot which one.

Overall, its a very cool car.

My mom has a 2002 LS V8. She's had quite a few problems with it. The fuel pump fuse has blown out a few times, strading her. The airbag light stays on all the time. The interior trim falls off the dash. The cruize control is now screwed up. When you hit decel it accelerates. The power steering pump needs replacement @ 110k. I know there are other things that I'm forgetting.
I would stay away from them.
