So i was thinking about getting another Fbody for a DD

my 88 mercury topaz has done me pretty good these last 3.5 years, but im thinking of getting something a little sportier in the upcoming months.
it will not be a race car, since i already have one of those. i dont need to be spending twice the money on go fast or replacement parts lol

soooo i was thinking of getting another 98-02 Fbody BUT iit would have a V6 and a 5spd
main reasons being, insurance, and price of course

Now, i have a few questions for you 98-02 V6 fbody owners

are there any years i should stay away from?

are they reliable? how hard to change spark plugs and stuff like that?

what kind of gas mileage are you getting with your 3.8 5spd? autos feel free to chime in on the mileage as well

this will be a big step up compared to my mercury lol

 thanks in advance

I am in the same boat as you. I'm on the hunt for the same thing because my DD now is a Durango but want to get another f bod for spring time to cruise around in, but a 6 cylinder. My brother actually had a 3.8 5 speed firebird and it never gave him any problems. He ran this car up to almost 200,000 miles still with no problems and sold it to put money towards a full size truck for winter time. Good luck man

thats what i did. i have 3 birds. 87 (show car) 89 formula (strip car) and i bought my 95 with the 3.4 5 speed. i get 19miles a gallon in the city. and 27 miles a gallon on hwy. so i still get the fbody happiness. with the good milage. not to hard to work on. fun to drive. id prefer a 3.8. but for 500 dollars im not complaining.

			I had a 95 v6 5spd and I honestly thought for a 3400 the gas mileage stunk.
