Oil Pressure
sorry for a noob question but i was wondering what a good oil pressure to run at is?
I watched my gauge today and its seem like its around 39-40 at idle and red lights but jumps up around 80 when driving.
Sorry in advance

That sounds like decent pressure. Just watch if it drops below what it's been running. That is a clear sign of problems are coming.

awesome thanks guys. Yea I was a little worried cause I saw some smoke and could smell oil burning. i looked at the guage and I thought 80 was a little high.
btw I soon realized the smoke and smell was from when I did my oil change I spilled some old oil in the motor.

80 does seem high to me. My 3.8 does 30-40 at idle and 60ish at WOT.

I'm willing to bet that it's not actually hitting 80psi, just factory gauge is saying so.
If you are actually concerned with it, you can buy / borrow a mechanical oil pressure gauge and tap in where you factory one is to see where you really stand.
