bolt grade question

ok... i seemed to have lost a transmission mount bolt.... now the one that i have (takes 2) is a 10.9 grade bolt (metric) so i went to homedepot in hopes to find a bolt to work.. and i found a bolt that will work length and thread wise... but its only a 8.8 grade bolt... im not to sure on how much of a difference there is... my question is will i be safe using the 8.8 bolts on that... or should i just order the stock bolt from the dealer?? i know the trans mount takes alot of abuse... this is why im asking.. thanks for any help

Fastenel is up here by me, you can more than likely get what you need, or just PM SJsleeper, he seems like the kinda guy that would have that bolt.

Or junkyard searching.

Or just not worry about it.

Regarding your original question, I think 8.8's have a tensile strength/yield strength of 120,000/~90,000 or so. 10.9's are 150,000/130,000. Good move keeping it at its original strength.
