new 3.73 gears

I just put 3.73 gears in my 2000 z28. Now my speedometer is way off, the fast i go the more off it gets. I want to get it fixed but i am not sure how, i am getting all different answers. People are saying its the transmission gear i have to change and others are saying i have to get the car tuned. Does anyone know how i can solve this problem? And the cheapest way thanks guys.

There are no speedo gears in your trans. It's electrical pulses. Talk to a sponsor like js to get the car retuned.

Didn't realize a speedometer calibration was that expensive. TTP tuned my car originally, and when I put a new rear-end in a couple of month later, they re-calibrated the speedometer for me for free, and in a couple of seconds.

thats a long ride from where i am =/ im located right over the bridge from philadelphia. It would probabally cost me another $100 or more in gas to get there with these horrible gas prices these days.

They're not a sponsor here so I won't give out their information, in respect to the forum sponsors on this board--Besides, I just Googled it & they're 1.5 hours from you anyway so I don't think you'd want to make a 3 hour trip just to save a few bucks.
I will just say that it is not a labor intensive thing to do, and a lot of people on here have the means of doing it for you. Ask (and call) around for prices.

On a side note, if your car is modified at all, a tune is a very good investment. 200-or-so bucks for 15-20whp is a great investment... plus, the tuner would likely recalibrate your speedo for you then anyway.

Even a bone stock car will pick up some power from a tune, and with intake and exhaust you'll do even better.

I would also recommend JS Performance, they can take care of you.

Once they have your VIN, its no charge to them at all to retune the car a million times. Some like TTP or Cartek or the bigger shops have umlimited VINs for that style car...

I second going to JS Performance, especially since your around the philly area, and a jump over a bridge to get to him. He does great work and his prices are prety good. Remember bud, you get whatyou pay for, sometimes the cheapest priceisnt the best end result.

Get a tuner and do it yourself!! Will cost about the same if you have someone tune it for you and you can do other stuff with your tuner when you want too without having to pay for another tune or having to drive anywere to do it!!

So there are no people in the philly area that have HP tuners for a 2000 LS1 car that can hook this guy up with a Speedo cal? Wish I still had my HP tuners. I would have you come down to blackwood and adjust your speedo for free!!

1. a hypertech costs way more than a base tune
2. a hypertech can and probably will install a lock on your ECM so only that hypertech can tune it.

go to a shop, get a real tune, it will save you time, a little bit of money especially if your only doing "bolt ons" because you will only have to do it once.

You must forgive him, him and I live in LT1 land, and such luxuries do not exist for us.

unfourtunatly that is correct....im getting a little tired of being the middle child when it comes to engines to be honest with you lol.

i know its a little bit of a haul to toms river. but give TTP a call....very resonable and a bunch of nice guys

or ECS in Plumstead may be alittle closer for you.

or you can do a mail order tune

either option will be just as effective
