fake SS sighting
I know this thread will go no where, but i have to get this off my chest. So i decieded to take the newer car to point today. So as I'm heading to work, and driving down Arnold avenue and i see this purplish blue 93-97 camaro. Seen that it had a SS hood on it, ok thats cool, look on the fenders and I see SS chrome badges, no SS spoiler, 1 exhaust pipe and the same chrome SS badges on the berger panel. Salad shooter wheels......come on, I cant stand when people do crap like this. Calling your car something its not. Well anyway thats my 2 cents had to get that off my chest.

All 4th gen SS are just rebadged Z28's, so you hate your own 02?

Yeah.............
If it ain't on a Berger car, it ain't a Berger panel. It's a tail panel, like it has been for decades. The "Berger Mod" is to black it out, neglecting the fact that a blacked out tail panel has had significant meaning on muscle cars since the mid 60's. Maybe even earlier. Way before the 00's when Berger Chevy did it.

I know SS are re badged Z28's but that is done as an OEM "option" . All I'm saying is i cant stand when people just slap badges on a car and call it something it was never intended to be. Reminds me of this guy that put zr1 badges on a c4 vette. I asked him about the car, he goes on to tell me it's not a zr1 , I then begin to laugh.

I have a gfx kit on the Z but its a after market kit . Its neither a replica rs kit nor oem rs kit. I didnt post this thread to butt heads with anyone, all im saying and wanted to say i cant stand when people do things like that. To each his own, its just my opinion thats all.

All I am saying is you are making something else out of a Z28 and a SS, so why is what you are doing better than what someone else does?

I agree, it annoys me too. I love seeing guys put ws6 badges on their base ws6 or stang guys with cobra badges on their v6 or gt model. I understand 4th gen ss camaros started as z28s and are registered as such, but a z28 with wing and hood still isn't an ss. Run the vin and it will be missing something, and resale still won't be as high as the ss, even with the hood and wing, still not a super sport

I guess you mean T/A here. And VIN does not denote SS, it denotes LS1 for federal purposes. But RPOs do what you say, they list the true background of the car.

So you can have gto clones, late 60's "ss" and whatever else but can't have a late model ws6 or ss
My ss is a clone, bought it that way. To anyone who has seen or will see it would have no idea. It looks identical to an ss that had the oem gfx added. Which I prefer and glad I didn't have to pay to have it added.
If I was a collector and trying to sell it for something its not that's different.
Just think of it as a form of modifying. Everyone has there own taste. I wouldn't want a stock looking camaro, not my cup of tea. To plain, an ss is much better including the badging.

I guess you can't blame the v6er for wanting to be a SSer. And no it wasn't me.

Unfortunately, this is for every car make, people think if they put the badge on, it automatically makes it 'that' car...then when they go to advertise it for sale, its an original one...
chevy- ss emblems on anything
ford-svt or cobra emblems on anything
toyota-trd emblems
honda-'si' emblems or vtec

All i really wanted to say was dont call your car something its not. If you have v6 but love the look of an SS or the better suspension of a Z over the v6 mod it, but please leave the badges off. I mean im not going to put ss badges on my Z . It my be faster and handle better than a SS of those years, but its not one.

Ok. But still, nothing worth "needing to vent"

I'm still with you, if you want a ws6 or ss camaro that badly, buy one. It almost reminds me of fake military imposters. Don't join the military but try pulling off the badass uniforms. Lmao...silly comparing the two but almost similar.

Im gonna put camaro badges on my dodge ram because i just wired up the camaro window switches in it. im just glad i can open the windows without jumping wires now.
but seriously, my ram has "Ram 1500 v8 magnum" badges just cause they were on the replacement doors. plus my bumper is an orange sport version. i like it better, needed one, and got it free. So basically im making the truck look like a 2001 1500 Ram Sport. but its really a 2500 HD diesel.

Fixed that for you. Just because you burn diesel does *not* make you a Peterbilt.
