			IIRC, the T56 has internal stops, right? 
 
Tell us what happens when you attempt to shift into an even numbered gear....Does it feel like it goes in, but just rev like it's in neutral? Do you feel/see  it hitting anything?

 If it was working fine for a few months, and then just stopped, without you making any changes, I'm guessing that something is wrong with the trans internally.
 
I don't know enough about them to guess what though.
