corvette heads

I want your guys opinion, I have the chance to get brand new 88-93 aluminum corvette heads 10088113 for basically nothing. What are your opinions? worth it for a 350 into 86 iroc 5 speed 3.27 gears? I plan on putting the tpi on the new motor i am building; and putting in a bigger cam. I just want some suggestions/opinions. Thanks

92-93 vette heads are LT1 heads which require a decent amount of work to put them on a gen I small block.

You just labeled the years incorrectly. Those AL heads were on Vettes up to '91, not '93. The 113 is the correct casting number for the TPI heads. Since you have an '86, your stock TPI base will match up to the bolt pattern for the intake on those heads. They're a great upgrade over a standard L98 cast-iron head. If you do the 113 heads with a good roller cam and 355ci, you'll have a fun street motor with plenty of torque.

I have a set of the 113 heads on my motor - they'll make good power for a stock head. If you can get them for a few hundred bucks or less - go for it.

Talking

Those heads are worthless. Since you're getting them for almost nothing, I'll give you $49.95 for the set, and take them off your hands. DEAL!!!!!

i had those heads on my 86 iroc made 365hp on the dyno with a stock tpi and a mild custom grind cam as a 350. to be honest i have had a set of l98 heads proff. re-worked but not excessively and got a large improvement in power over the al. heads. i have flow sheets. if you want i can dig them up

Does anyone know the limits of the stock 350 tpi with a cam?

By stock TPI, do you mean stock runners, base, plenum, and throttlebody? They choke off around 43-4500 rpms on a 350. If you upgraded to some larger runners, 52mm throttlebody, and port the plenum you might see 5000 rpms. If you're intent on sticking with TPI, focus on making torque, and pick a cam that makes ~a lot~ of it and is done revving by 5K rpms.

I have yet to dyno my motor, but it certainly feels healthy. It's a .030 over 350 with 9.8:1 compression, a ZZ4 cam, and World Products S/R Torquer 58cc heads. They're basically a cast-iron version of the L98 Vette head. Also have 1.5 aluminum roller rockers, SLP runners, ported upper plenum, and a 52mm TB. Soon I'll get the car over to TTP or some other local dyno shop and see how it does.

stock tpi is bone stock. stock runners, plenum, throttlebody, computer. I will eventually upgrade the runners plenum and throttlebody, but right now the car needs a motor so I am wondering if i can get away with stock parts then upgrade later on.

You can definitely run it with a stock intake, it just won't make as much power as it could with some bigger and better parts on it. The only thing you WILL need to do is get (or burn) a 350 chip and put bigger injectors in. The stock 19lb 305 injectors are not gonna cut it on a 350+ci motor.

So does anyone have a cam suggestion?

this is probably the hardest question to answer. assuming you want to continue to use the cam after you bump the heads up. i would advise you to call one of the cam manufacturers. i am positive they have heard your question before and have an answer for you.
