sub wont fit in stealth box question

i have a JL stealthbox and had a JL sub that recently crapped the bed. i got a new alpine sub and it doesnt fit in the stealth box. i figured a 10" sub is a 10" sub...i guess not. are there adapters out there i can buy or do i need to buy another JL sub in order for it to fit? im kind of new to the car audio world besides basic speakers. thanks.
 Jon

diameter..the old one fit like a glove the new sub is a bit too big. i put them side by side and the new one is definitely bigger. they are both 10" subs though.

Sometimes the subs with have different trim rings around it that will make it appear wider. I have had jls and kenwoods in there and I remember the kenwood didn't fit at first either. But it ended up working. Just forgot how, been a while

Im sure someone could rig some sort of an adaptor to make it fit, but I would just get a different sub.
On a side note, there are probably more differences between the subs that you are not aware of. even if it fit, you may not get the same performance that the JL sub gave you. Differences can be: number of voice coils, voice coil Ohms, power range, frequency response, box size, etc. You may be better off just buying another JL sub with the same part number.

That box is set for a JL W3. If you run an alpine in it, make sure that the sub you're using is at least close in air space requirements.
Also, not to hawk my shop on here, but if you need a 10w3v3, I work for a JL Signature dealer in Cherry Hill. I would be willing to give you an NJFBOA discount on a brand new warrantied subwoofer. PM me when you're ready.
