Hot... and it was a great race. I tuned in for the start and at half way through went to a friends house. Came back and watched the last 40 laps. I think she's a good driver but not great. Look at the stupid mistake she made when she lifted way off the throttle causing the wreck when the caution was lifted. That was just dumb and she even appoligized for it. Nobody was checking up, she was just throttle happy and wanted to get a jump... totally lifted off the throttle causing the rears to loose traction and spin. Then again she had that awesome save where she touched hard. Anyways, it's off to a friends to watch drag racing .

yeah but on her interviews she is also very cocky about her looks and how she says they helped her get to where she is now. i would admire her if she was modest, but she isnt. and she's not 21, shes 23, to correct the age that someone posted. anyway, her posing in FHM in some of those shots kind of sucks, because that isnt really breaking any gender barriers, she is still just create the "women as playthings" image. her modeling shoots dont make her look like a badass, but more like a wannabe. yeah she can drive. but she would be cooler if thats all she did.

i agree completely.

unfortunately her sex is part of what markets her to sponsors. so she has no choice but play it up. hopefully after she gets a win or two under her belt at this level they will start treating her as jsut a driver instead of a novelty.

i disliked her so much i almost stopped watching power block. then i got smart and started taping it instead of watching it live. i could then bypass her spots. i could still see her, but thank god i couldn't hear her. the last name is very appropriate: SPAZ.

If her modeling was effecting her driving I'd agree with you. But it hasn't, so I disagree that her posing made her look like a wannabe and it's certainly not made her look like a "plaything." Her posing in the magazine was a publicity stunt that has HELPED her break the gender barrier. She got noticed and sponsorships that are needed to compete at that level. If anything I found her posing to be a strong statement FOR feminism. She's showing off her attractive body in a tactful mannor (a lot less revealing that some bathing suits) AND driving around all these guys. It's like talking trash and backing it up... very powerful woman demanding equality. Also, personally, I don't think any guy that's posed topless in a magazine has ever been looked down upon so she's breaking that gender barrier. Now if she goes and marries some celeb and retires before she breaks another record then yeah, she'd be a dult, but only the future will tell.
Let's just hope she doesn't turn into a certain tennis player .

Bah, shes young, cute, and gets to do 200mph+ as a job...I say shes got the life. She does act cocky, but I guess when you are in a sport like this, I have yet to hear many people be "moddest" about there skill. If I was good or great at something, I would probably flaunt it cause why not? Everyone wants to win, and when you have some talent, of course you are gunna say you are the best. And to top it all off, she is a female in a sport that is heavily dominated by males.

eh...i think those pics look chopped to me...her facial expression is exactly the same...its kind of a "mad because shes confused" kind of face. thats what i see at least. its cool she can drive better than almost any guy...and shes pretty...i wouldnt go out on a limb and say shes hot though, but then again im picky.

I never once said that her modeling was affecting her driving. All I am saying is why is it so necessary to pose in the FHM shots, provacatively, in the way that she does? I just want to say that she shouldn't have to play up to an image to get sponsors, just being an awesome female driver should be enough. but i guess if you saw the interview before the 500 started, this would make more sense. I don't blame her for being cocky about her skill, but half the interview was her being cocky about her looks. Having to play off her body image doesn't break a barrier, that just continues the same idea that women are just there to look at. Females shouldn't have to pose in a magazine in that way just to get publicity for a predominately male sport. she should be able to just do it on skills alone. If she is cocky about her looks, it doesn't stand out for feminism, it makes other women feel like ****, because all they are going to do is compare themselves to her. All I wanted to say was that it sucks that a woman would have to pose like that to "help break a gender barrier". Breaking a barrier without having to show off your body, now that's a barrier broken, but that hasn't happened yet, and thats a shame for women. please try to understand my posts better before you try to make me look and feel like an idiot. thanks.

I saw a TV show where some of the NASCAR wives were interviewed about their relationships and why they've survived when the national average is 50% divorced. The reasons varied, however one woman described it as being like a military wife - they're gone alot while the wife has to stay home with the kids so they can go to school.
