Where to buy an Air Compressor

Where is a good place to buy an air compressor and what is a reasonable price range? My gf wants to buy me an air compressor for christmas so i'm trying to find the best place and deal so that I can save her as much money as possible. As of now I do know I want a 60gallon vertical tank model. By christmas i will have a 220v line in my garage so thats one less issue sorted out.

So far i found:
sears $549
Northern tool industires catalog $429(+100 shipping)
Home depot, Husky $429
Lowes, Kobalt $449

Id like to get the craftsman one out of those. But I am considering price quite a bit. If anyone can get me and good deals or discounts, please let me know. I think i remember Al saying he could get discouts at his work. Thanks for any info

almost all the compressors sold by the major chains are made by campbell hausfeld. so which one you buy is more about price since they are all the same company/quality.

yeah we have rebuilt our craftsman about three times so far and the damn thing needs another one. its so friggen loud too! We went out and bought an old (1954) Ingersol I believe compressor that was used in a body shop since day one and thats what we are in the middle of installing out there in the garage. If you use the crap out of a compressor STAY AWAY from a craftsman. good luck though!

I gotta check the label, but the one we have is ancient. Eaisly from the 60s. Works like brand new too.

ill probably go to lowes or home depot, then i dont have to worry about shipping. And yes the warranty is always a good thing but if it breaks alot and keeps getting fixed, its just a nusiance. so for now ill stay away from craftsman.

I checked eastwood.com and as far as i can tell then dont sell large compressors, if you can find them put the link directly to that page.

as you can see, there are other compressors available, not just the 80 gallon tank 5hp model. i wouldn't have posted the link if the product you were looking for wasn't there...
