STOCK

What would the base for being stock to modded? any aftermarket modification would be modded right? Me and my freind are having an arguement about stock, and I say that just an aftermarket catback a car wouldnt be considered "stock" whats your input?

Stock = the way the car came from the factory

Modded = anything else that didnt come with the car from the factory

werd...thats when they normally just start referring to things as stock motor, stock heads/cam and overall just become more specific...really if you through some slicks on a stock car & run 3 tenths quicker you can consider the car stock.

yeah, if i had just a catback i would say...
"my car is stock with the exception of a catback"

if you just have a tune, i would say that could still be considered stock.

too vague. that would make my mom's audi station wagon modded cause its got "aftermarket parts" such as a new motor, starter, alternator, pumps, and even brakes and tires.

i say anything that increases the performance by even the slightest bit would be modded. that includes anything from a different set of tires, to weight reduction, to a ghetto scoop leading into the intake. but thats just me

Factory Stock Or Stock Eliminator legal?

Both are stock, ones a little more modified

I know 2 guys from the C.I. website that dropped a few tenths from a tune on their GTOs. I don't consider that stock. Stock to me is right off the showroom floor.

yeah i guess you're right, stock is original showroom condition.

so for me with my slp dual-dual catback, i guess thats stock then too, since it was an SLP option.

Only if it came on your car from the factory, then yes, you're stock.

Yes, agreed. Having a motor replaced, as long as its the same motor and to the same specs, would still make it stock. It isnt aftermarket, its a OE engine that was replaced.
And shame on you for buying an Audi or anything marked with a VW.
I hope that was under warranty.
Anyway, replacment of normal wear and tear I dont consider breaking the stock thing. You might get better brakes, tires, oil, air filter, but I dont consider that making it moddified. Call it "upgraded".
