Seriously considering boycotting ls1tech

http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=453919

we are now basically forbid from even pming people info about other options...otherwise we face bans greedy ****ing bastards over there...if you can't afford the $175/mo for sponsorship don't even try to get business, but if that sponsor screws you too bad considering the only sections i frequent now are the pcm & eastern sections now and the pcm section has gone to ****(every other thread is a hpt vs. efilive thread) I really dont have much of a reason to go there. It was such a good board too I even bought a shirt when i first signed up.

That's such BS. I understand the need to cover website costs, and the need to keep sponsors happy, however they are basically asking you to turn in users who PM info about non-sponsors....such crap. I would rather off myself than be associated with a site like that.

I think that Mod handled things all wrong and "bear" made a great point to which the Mod has yet to reply.

ridiculous. so either cough up 2k a year or not solicit a private company? ls1tech is further helping the monopoly of the larger companies and not giving the little guys a chance. thats a shame cause its the big companies that suck.

edit: replying to your post right now

looks like I'll be hitting up the tracks with my business cards more often...it is sad though because the sponsors there are rarely the end all be all and usually charge rediculous amounts for their services.

amazing when people were out 200 grand from AP engineering(an ls1 tech sponsor) ls1tech did very little to help rectify the situation...they look out for their own pockets thats about it.

and its not even about the entrepenuer(sp?) if someone posts "any tuning shops in va?" if i pm the person and say hey talk to humpinss he might be able to help you out I would get banned if that person decided to turn me in. To take it one step further they are rewarding people for turning others in so who's to say people wont put out a bait thread similar to the example I posted just to get free stuff...thats a little drastic but it is a possiblity in this ****ed up world we live in. Just sad i've bought stuff from the tech store in the past as some of you have probably seen me in my ls1tech shirt not to mention until today I had them in the links section of my page listed as the best technical site on the web...got a question go there....no longer.

Yes and in his quest to make money he's saying that if you offer labor or parts for less than their sponsors - and god knows all those big name shops charge way more in labor than most of us would like to pay - then you get banned?! Yea because that REALLY contributes to the community and helps it grow...

Nice post Bill - I wonder if they will end up modifying the rules slightly based on responses of the masses.

Wow, that is completely out of control. If I ask for information on a product or service I always prefer someone to give me a link to make things easier. I can see that board losing a lot of loyal viewers. Every link on that board to another website with tech info could hit them up for a royalty. That is just stupid. I wonder who bought the board because that would never happen in a free trade environment. One of the main sponsors must have bought control of it. It doesn't really matter to me since I haven't posted a whole lot over there.

Look at the list of sponsors. He must be making some serious cash off those guys. Obviously that is not a tech board but rather a business. BuuuhhhByyyye.

Well, I think they said ~70 sponsors at $2,100 per year each. That's almost $150,000 per year, just in sponsorship money.

I threw my opinion in. That thread might have something to do with me. I have a buddy that owns a small shop near me. I've referred a few people to him just get price quotes or what not. The closest "sponser" is Mike@Rapid Motorsports and he's not near us.

Whatever, **** Nineball. What a **** way of handling it.
