				ok, this is rediculous

Changed the oil in my truck today. Went to reset the "Change Engine Oil" light that appears on the dash. Just how the book says ..... turn the key to the run position (not starting it), floor it 3 times within 5 seconds. Then the light will flash for 5 seconds saying its reset.
Well, her I am 15 minutes later and its not reset. I've tried all kinds of methods, off and on, and the damn thing is still on. Im about smash the dash with a hammer, eliminating the light all together.

do u have a lil button on the wheel that has a picture of a gas pump? if so hit that untill u see engine oil life, then hold the lil enter key and it will reset it that way. otherwise, turn key on, wait out 3 seconds, pump to the floor and off 3 times fast, but not insanely fast. start truck up, light will be off. do it those 2 ways every day, unless its a saturn or pontiac then theres a re-set button in the fuse block

the gas pedal method does work, i used to use that way at my old shop to reset the lights. you need to do it fast. I also use that way in my SS. also the steering wheel oil life thing should work too.

My truck has the little 2x2 square display on the left side of the dash, not like the new ones that have it under the odometer in the middle of the dash.

Then the oil light will flash 5 times. Ive tried 3 times when the battery light comes on the first time, and no worky. Tried on the second phase. No work. I tried 3 times each on both light cycles also.....no dice.

I floor it, count one second let go, repeat 2-3 times and nothing changes. I've about had it .. worst case Ill stop at the mechanic for my work. Maybe he can reset it with a scanner of something.

after you do the pedal thing, do you start it up, or turn it back off, then back on and try starting it? and a scanner should eb able to reset it easily.

Tried turning it off, pulling the key out, and turning back on ...... then starting it. ...... I even tried using harsh vulgar language on it.

Wow, never had a problem like that before? GM usualy has the hit the gas 3 times and its off approach with a lot of there cars. My Maxx is nice. You just cycle through the DIC, and it asks you "Reset Oil Life Monitor?"
Hold down enter, and tada! Little beep and its over.

Well, I was going to take it to the mechanics earlier and have them reset it, got in the truck .. pumped it 3 times started it and pulled out of the parking spot at my work ..... NO LIGHT!
I swear, my truck has ears knowing that I was pissed and was gonna have someone do it. Or it was just screwing with my and waiting for the right time to reset.
