				State street racing laws?

What are the consequences for getting busted street racing in NJ? Can your car be taken? I'm not too worried, if I race on a public road it's out on a country road with no traffic and scouted out. Not sure how yall set things up, though. But I am curious of the laws.

i'm almost positive the car will be impounded on the spot. I keep all my racing on a track, we have 3, no reason not to.

Impounded on the spot? I highly doubt that. Do yourself a favor and save it for the track.

considering i do police towing in my town, i'll jump in.

if you are caught street racing, the vehicle(s) involved will be impounded on the spot and the driver can be fined up to $1000 and the driver(s) could face suspended licences depending on the area/speed limit.

the impounded vehicles will not be released back to their owners no matter what. they will be held by the town they were impounded in until the town can obtain a title for the vehicle at which time it will be sold at auction. the original owner will not be allowed to bid on the vehicle.

there are 3 tracks in new jersey, fort dix is an easy drive to all of them. only night of the week none of them are open is monday.atco is open tuesday, thursday-sunday
island is open friday - sunday
 englishtown is open wednesday, friday-sunday

new jersey also has some of the tougher laws against spectating at a street race. they call it encouraging a display of speed or something like that, the fines are almost the same as actually racing.

i think that's alittle different. it's probably a careless driving ticket and the description was racing.

The imports raced on Lincoln Highway (linking jersey city and newark) Saturday night and there was a bad accident. I saw at least 3 ambulances on the scene.

no immediate impound unless its a big organized (i.e. philly) event.
non highway....... 5 point reckless ticket on top of the ticket for whatever speed you were going

 | I think island is open the first or last wednesday of each month too in the summer. Melissa is gonna have to verify that though.

Like everyone said though the track is were is at. With the whole impounding thing, fines, losing your license, insurance, etc... Its really not worth it.

Not for the amount of money that I see most people throw down at least.

Now pink slips thats a different story
