What would a mechanic charge...?
Teacher I work with suggested asking James to do a tune up on her 2001 Ford Windstar, including oil change. She'd rather pay him then a mechanic. I know some people will throw a red flag and suggest he not do it, since he likes to put things on backwards and such...but, if she were to take it to the mechanic, what do you think they would charge for labor? Obviously she'll buy all the parts, or pay us back if we buy them all first...but for labor, what would be reasonable to make it worth it not to take it to the mechanic, but still make it worth James' time?

if she wants everything (plugs, wires, air filter, fuel filter, etc) then thats probably a 2-3 hour job. id say a mechanic would charge upwards of $200 plus parts

<<<mechanic
tune up on a Windstar with parts is usually around $300.
if James is up for doing it, get all the parts and charge her that plus $75.

I dont know about windstars, but the rear plugs on the Town & Country minivans are a bitch. the newer ones arent too bad because they made the intake short enough to work aorund it, but the older ones were hard for me to reach around, and I have pretty skinny arms.
If james isn't up to it and she feels like driving down here, I'll do it for her
