Well I want to learn mechanics and autobody, im 99.9% sure I want to have a hot rod or resto shop as well as a maaco type paint place with base paint packages but really good paint, prep and customer service.

My question for you is to

A. stay in my regular high school, full time for 3 more years then go on for busness and a technical after high school type of deal.
B. go to votech half a day, and regular school half a day.
c. go to votech full day.

The reason I didnt go to votech this year was freinds, I dont really have lots but I wouldnt be able to make any new ones.
also the people in votech arent the nicest and usually get into lots of trouble..theirs also not enough girls...

Matt

The only advice I can give you is don't do **** in high school becuse of girls or friends. They all come & go. Most of the people you know in HS are gone by the time you reach 21.

if you are that serious about it i would suggest the half day votech and half day regular school thing. work on math and business classes at regular school to prepare you to run the business.
it woudl be the best of both worlds as long as you stick to it.

Go to regular school now, get at least your full diploma, then later if you decide you want to go into that, go to like penco tech or something like that. This way you have a full diploma and then you can decide if it's really something you wanna do or not.

I should have specified a bit more, take more classes, get more of a "formal" education, that's all. I know votech people get diplomas, my sis took votech for cosmotology or whatever, she only had like 4 classes and went there. The way I figure it, stay on a full and normal college tract, then once you get done highschool you have a couple more options and might possibly be better prepared for different choices, now i'm not saying people who have votech are poorly prepped for college but I still think it would be beneficial taking the extra couple of courses then you can always enroll in an auto tech specialty school or whatever when you get done, JMHO, if you disagree that's fine, but u asked for opinions.

You still get a HS diploma. Since I assume it lacks in the math and other preparation, you may need to go to community college to get the math and business classes, then go on to a 4 yr for the degree.

HOwever, as James, said, you may do all that and find it's not your real passion, and lose all that time. You may also regret missing certain aspects of the traditional HS.

Finish high school. Go get a 4 yr degree in ME or some other tech major, while taking a business course or three to satisfy some of the requirements. Work part time for a shop while in school, then go get your career in one of the many auto-related jobs out there. Then, when you are 30+, have a college education, work experience, money in the bank and CREDIBILITY in the eyes of the bank that your business MIGHT succeed, you can think about going out on your own.

Matt... you are 14. You have a LONG life ahead of you (if you stay smart and keep out of trouble). It will take YEARS to get where you want to be today. Tomorrow you will change your mind. Go get the education. Endure it. Work part time for he experience. Then, and only then, should you consider launching your own business. Right now, the only thing you know, is the regurgitated stuff that comes from these other 20-somethings on this board. You'll learn a little, but you have a long way to go.

Keep tinkering with that 84 while you finish high school. Then go to college. If not, all you'll have is a long list of woulda, shoulda, coulda's.

Word. I graduate college with a degree in psych which fits my job perfectly, and when I get back to work the day after my graduation I get, "State's cutting funding, you're laid off on June 30th." Now I'm scrambling to find something, things are constantly changing nothing will stay the same for long. Don't wanna plague yourself with the two most horrible words in the universe, "What if?"

Well the main reason why Im even considering going now Is because I want to do things to the 84, but I cant even do a simple thing like headers or a intake manifold. I would love to learn how to do more **** to cars! I really would but I can tell, its going to be verry hard to with out having help.

LOL nothing... I need someone younger than me to make me feel wise.
I figure if I can keep responding to Matt's posts with someithng that sounds like wisdom, I'll start believing all the bumps and bruises I got through the years are worth it.

Patience young padawan. You must learn patience. You are 14... you should be downloading illegal music, playing video games, going to high school and talking about cars like you know everything about them. he fact you are actually tinking with yours is a good step in the right direction. But for now... keep your mouth shut and your eyes and ears open.
