Oil Dipstick delema

Ok, I was putting in the passanger side headers, and its being obstructed...wtf? I look around, I dont see it hitting anything. So I push...push a little harder...no movement.
Ok, I pull it back out, and see that the dipstick is the only thing int he way. Well, I try to pull it out, not working.
So im trying to pull it out real hard, and them it comes out...or so I thought. I look, and its really short...when I look at the end of it, and the metal tube is jagged...as if it...was...ripped the **** off.
Ohhhhhhh crap, I tore the oil dipstick off at the engine block.
Ok, well, now I need a way to get the dipstick out of the engine. I thought I could just pull it out, but there seems to be something holding it into the engine. The thing spins, but does not come out. I dont know wtf!! Anyone have a trick or idea?

Nah, not working. Ive pulled, Koll has pulled, it doesnt come out. I can only think that something is holding it into the engine. Remeber, this one goes throught the engine block, not the oil pan.

is there a way to drop the pan? it may be the only way, like to use a hammer and a small punch and basically tap the broken peice up and out.
I had a similar situation with my old SS dipstick when doing my headers, it just wouldnt come out, i pulled, hammered, yanked, pryed, everything, for some reason the rubber o-ring turned really hard and locked it in there real good.

if it spins, it should come out. maybe there is a slight lip preventing it from coming out

Ok...I should have stated that um...I dont want to drop the pan. This would to be at all costs, do not drop pan. Im trying to think of a way to do this without dropping a pan.

Vice grip needle nose plyers did not take it out. This is what is leading me to belive that something is holding it down.

The threaded thingy tool ya use for getting broken bolts out. Maybe if ya screw one in you will have enough meat sticking out to allow you a better grip with vice grips. And maybe you can apply leverage to the vice grips and set up a prying motion to pull the broken part out.

I don't know what sort of engine you are working on but on fourth gens there is a single bolt holding on the dipstick.

Try heating up the block before pulling the remnants of the dipstick tube. Whatever you do, change the oil before running the car again.

Damn, it is probably only about 1" in the block Chisel & hammer, knock it inwards (across the tube, not into the block), needle nose pliers or dykes to hold on to it/pull it out. Spray it with some PB Blaster

Theres definatley nothing holding it in. I would be carefull putting an ez-out in there, if you go too far into it, itll spread it out even more and itll never come out. I would heat up the block around there then try to pull and rotate at the same time. If that doesent work, your gonna have to drop the pan and hit it up from the bottom.
