DIRT Modified wreck from last night

last night at bridgeport speedway Keith Hoffman went for the ride of his life. he is fine, got out under his own power. but i am sure he is feeling it today. the car is a total loss to say the least. front clip is pushed to the right more than a foot.

Glad to hear he is ok. Lost the wheel just before the flip, but it was kinda fuzzy - he get launched from riding the wheel of the car in front of him?

I bet it hurts, especially considering your hans device only allows you neck and head to movie so much.

probably would be fun though if it didnt hurt or realize your car is ****ed

the wheel got ripped off from wheel to wheel contact. the contact actually picked up the whole car and when the right side landed, that is when **** got exciting.
adding to the drama was the fact that the track was very fast last night. that heat averaged 104mph on a 5/8 mile clay track. straightaway speeds were prolly at or above 130 last night. that average speed is about 5mph higher than most nights.

I wasn't there, but that is what it looked like. Rode up on the left rear of the car he was racing with, and it was all over from there. This is such a fast track, that when a car goes over, it usually goes over hard.

The modified feature last night was won with an average speed of 97.881 mph, around a 5/8s mile dirt track. That's just under 23 seconds to complete a lap.

i am betting it just hurts. keith was walking around afterwards. trying to help with the car and clean up the pit area. but you coudl tell he was getting stiff and he had a somewhat dazed look on his face.

the best line i have heard coming out of this, another driver whiel describing the remains of keith's car "only the parts between the bumpers broke. everything else is fine" lol

i guess i was more wondering about centripital/centrifugal forces that are involved when you're spun that fast. i know im weird but there's nothing we can do anout it.

no doubt it hurt when it was stoped all of a sudden.

Nothing to measure exactly what kinda force the driver was under. These cars don't have any sort of on board diagnostics. The only electrical parts are ignition, one way radio, transponder, and lights for the gauges

hmmm, i am sure you coudl figure out what G's he pulled in the barrel rolls. just have to figure out waht RPM he was spinning and figure he is about a 170ish pound guy. that would give you the total force involved.

Here's a few pics of the car after it landed.....

In the second picture you can see what Tim was talking about when he said the front clip was pushed out more than a foot....
