How much to pay

Looking to get an idea on how much a car is worth, Ive been looking at this car for three years now, i believe its a 83 or 84 z28 i forget, its ttop 5 speed and its got the fiberglass hood on it and its got the rear window wiper. The car does not run it has been sitting since 93 a believe un covered and sitting under trees interior is shot but floor pans still seem to be good. I offered 700 for it, thing is its at the parents house the mom wants it gone nice older couple whos house its at and the son is older i only have to deal with him cause he has the title. He wants a lot of money for because it has a expensive paint job 10 coats of clear or some thing like that he said dont mean jack since its been outside so im trying to get this car outta there and over here i cant stand to see this as i see it as a rare car rot away in a driveway when its just around the block from me. thanks in advance.

from my experience, 700 is still alot for that car, personally i'd offer 500 MAX for a 82-84. the wiper is rare yes, but not desired. The fiberglass hood(if you mena the stock one) came with all the crossfire z28s and is semi desireable but they are still readily available. But garunteed theres gonna be rust issues that will go unseen until someone starts working on it. also if 82 or 83, the clutch would be a mechinical linkage version which sometimes can bring in decent money or it sometimes may take forever to sell(if the car is parted) As a whole, the car would be nice to fix up, but like i said rust/rot will most likely be an issue even if floorpans are nice. Its just sad that car owners liek that think they have the greatest thiongs and let them sit, and in turn turning them into trash. I know a late 80's iroc sitting by me, for the past 10 or so years, just recently i learned the guy is in his 30s and just bought a hemi charger with the 6.0 and hes all into that and im having a mutal friend try to get me the car, basically for like 100 bucks.

I payed 450 for a non running firebird.

thats a firebird not a trans am, how ever it did have a v8..

so just use this as a reference, all though all it had was surface rust.
