Ticket in Brielle

I was driving on route 35 in Brielle about 2 weeks ago when I was pulled over the officer said I was speeding and I was doing 10 over the limit. So I get my ticket and it says I was doing 53 in a 40 zone. For any of you who know the small part of 35 that is Brielle there is no 40mph zone there is only a 50 and 55.So now I go to court yesterday to plead not guilty because I wasn't speeding and I don't want points on my license,so I get there and i try try to talk to the prosecutor and he just says I can make this a zero point ticket and make it a unsafe driving ticket,he didnt give me any chance to argue it at all. Finally I'm called up and I'm not even given a chance to talk I'm just given a choice to plead guilty or not guilty and as soon as I answer they tell me how much I have to pay and send me out. By the time I was done it cost me $439.00. I've known that Brielle is like this for awhile , I've even heard from a police chief from another town and a local attorney that this is the only way Brielle makes there money by screwing over people who have to drive through there town. Theres also been lots of talk about the Brielle police department not being needed because they are such a small town and just using Manasquan,Point Beach and Brick police departments to police this area I think this is something that should be done.Perhaps people could sign a petition or something to make this happen and maybe if enough people sign it it'll work.

you always have an option to plead not guilty. You always have the option to speak your case. Either what they were doing was a federal offence by not handling their court properly or you just got man handled by the prosecutor

Yeah it was pretty bad. They let me plead guilty or not guilty but they didnt let me speak my case all they said was "Do you plead guilty or not guilty," and then right after I answered not guilty they gave me my fines and moved on to the next person.

whoa, waitaminnit... you plead "NOT GUILTY" and they gave you your fines? i think you are leaving a piece of the puzzle out, otherwise you have grounds for an excellent appeal... please retell the story without leaving anything out, and maybe my opinion will change. in other words, if the prosecutor spoke and brought the cop in and he spoke and then the judge found you guilty based on their testimony, then all is still right in the world. if none of that happened and you were not given an opportunity to "face your accuser" (this case, it's the cop and his equipment, not the prosecutor), then you should get a lawyer and appeal the judge's ruling. going to any foreign court (one you've never been in before) without a lawyer is a shaky proposition no matter how you look at it.

Theres nothing left out of my story, and the officer who wrote the ticket wasn't at the court when I was there so I didn't get the opportunity to face my accuser.I don't really feel like going through the trouble to appeal it now I already paid $439 and it would cost me more to to get a lawyer and appeal it.
I also wrote this because I wanted to see if anyone else has dealt with tickets in Brielle because pretty much everyone there had the same trial.

What i would do is Just eat it now. Getting a lawyer and appealling it isnt even worth it. It is going to cost you money to get a lawyer. Then if you appeal, it could take months to get an appeal trial. Even if you win you might nsee that money anyways. Just be happy that you didnt get any points with this scam that all small courts do.

With speeding tickets always get a lawyer. They can reduce the fines. Instead of some punk ass coming in, have proper representation.

**** brielle cops seriously! When did that happen Nick because I have to goto court monday for my reckless for doing a burnout (********). I am really hoping that the person who filed the complaint wont show up and it will get dropped but if they do that I'll bug out. I got pulled over on my permit in Brielle and had a cop try to tell me having my license plate in my window was illegal. Talked my way out of it because my dad was in the car though... I love how the cop waited till I was about to be out of Brielle and into Wall to stop me. They are all a bunch of cocksucking pricks in Brielle. Its the first day on the job is "Giving a good hummer 101".

btw, your plate in the window IS illegal, i believe, it must be between 12" and 24" off the ground on the front on the car, or something like that. anywhere else is "improper display"

and Speedmetal, if it just cost you $439 and no points, you still basically got a deal, if you had gotten a lawyer to get off clean, it would have cost more, PLUS if you did nothign and got points, the insurance increase over the next 3 years would be noticeable. so just keep this in mind and watch yourself in that town, thats just my feelings.

Hey I saw that thread on here about your ticket. Its such ******** I don't know how they can give you a ticket for something they didnt even witness and also you said the people who complained said it was a red camaro that was doing burnouts and if I remember correctly there's another red camaro on your street. Why didn't they try to give them the ticket?
The plate in the window can get you a ticket too but I've always done it in my car I hate the way the front plate looks on a T/A at first I just had no front plate and everyone was pulling me over for it.

idk man court is monday and I have my fingers that I will get off with an unsafe driving. Looks like its going to be a careless with no points though... Thats a hefty $450. Apparently our town lets you pay $100 a month though.

At least you can pay $100 a month I had to pay all my fines that day. They didn't let anyone arrange payments either , if you didn't have the money you had to go back in to see the judge.

Any Jersey Shore town are PITA, and even worse in the summer. I got harrased cause I was sitting in a parking spot for too long, waiting for my friend to get out of work.
