New balancer and electric water pump!

The parts i broke two weeks ago finally came in today, well they were only ordered wed, lol.

i'll post pics up later. I got ANOTHER Fluidampr and a Meziere electric water pump. I was under the impression that i'd need to go and buy an old style SBC thermostat for it since it does not use the ls1 oem thermo, but apparently now Meziere sells them complete with a t-stat already installed, how sweet is that. And it also comes with the heater hose fittings, some wiring, fuse, and new GM waterpump gaskets. One thing that i saw when first looking at it, is that the engraving on the pump says "Meziere LS" not LS1 like ive seen in every picture everywhere. it looked like they forgot the "1". just to be sure it wasnt a reject part or anythign, i called them up and the tech guy confirmed that they changed the engraving to only "LS" since it was causing confusion with ls6, ls2 and mainly ls7 guys. So all is good. Its anodized black with the pulley in a gunmetal gray.

I also got an ARP balancer bolt. lol. tomorrow i gotta get some threadlock to keep that bastard in place. I also gotta get another new serpentine belt since my last one is probably still at Island. Tomorrow when i get under the car, i'm going to check the front main seal. I dont know if it was damaged when the last balancer came off. I may decide to change that while the balancer and oem pump are off. Other than that, i just have to swap a tie-rod out and bend down the one corner of my k member. Hopefully i'll have the car back on the road by monday evening.

I just finished the water pump install, forgot to take pics, lol sorry. but it was pretty straight forward. The new versions of the meziere electric LSx series pumps are nice. They come with a sbc thermostat already installed, plus new GM gaskets, bolts for the oem ls1 thermo outlet, wiring and heater hose fittings.

The only issues i had was that the bottom of the pump was hitting the top of my A/C bracket, it wouldnt sit flush on the block. i pulled the pump back out, hit the A/c bracket quick with a grinder and test fit the pump again. this time it fit perfect up against the block plus had some play up and down still. The second issue was already known on 00-02 cars, the bottom of the throttle body cable cam gets stuck on the top of the water pump. All i had to do was open it full throttle and hitting the bottom of the throttle cam with the grinder, now it sits perfect and opens and closes great.

The balancer i got is another Fluidampr, stock size w/ac pulley and SFI rated. I also got an ARP balancer bolt this time and threadlock to get that bastard in place. While i had the water pump off, i pulled the front engine cover to chekc it for any damage and to replace the front crank seal with a new GM one, since it looked a little beat from having balancers put on and coming off 3 times now.

Tomorrow i have to actually wire up the pump and install the balancer. Then i get the fun job of swapping out my drivers side tie-rod. possibly ill try to bend the corner of my k-member back down but i doubt thatll happen. I still havent replaced my a/c tensioner and idler but i wont be running the a/c belt just yet.

I will take pics tomorrow to show the fit and finished product.

BTW, i learned yesterday when i took everything apart that it probably helps if i had bolted the throttle body on all the way. haha. one bolt was completely out, just laying on the tb coolant line. the other two were loose making the TB loose... i can only imagine what that was doing to performance, lol. lets see how it runs tomorrow... still need to do the tune someday.... i may pay someone, i dunno....

Here are pics of the parts before install. the EWP is just dirty from being handled, lol.

Here are some pictures of the finished product...

The black anodized electric water pump, pulley is almost pewter

The NEW fluidampr with ARP Bolt(w/locktite, lol)

My original steering rack(one mount was destroyed when stock engine blew) and my damaged tie rod, along with a spare one. Then a pic of the replacement one installed.

and finally, a picture of the damage to my K-member. I couldnt even budge it, so its getting left like that, it didnt hit the rack or the brake line so its fine. One day ill go tubular anyway.

Looks good Paul. An electric water pump was the best mod I ever invested in! You'll love it right now especially with the warmer temps around the corner. The car could idle through NYC traffic and won't even flinch.
