what are they goin to do; go to EVERY manufacture that has tuning software and try to force them to omit the codes that delete those sensors, take ALL those "fake senors" off of the shelf (i kno some of this crap is just a simple resistor, think of the GAGS delete)? Good luck with eBay....

It seems like they are doin the same thing the recording industry did when Napster was still used for free. They are just blowing their load. They'll nail a couple unfortunate ppl, but in the end they are goin to be fighting a losing battle.

besides, most ppl dont have the knowledge, drive, or no-how to modify their cars anyways. Most just to basic crap and leave them alone, ot just keep them totally stock. i don't think it is a huge of an issue as they make it out to be. Now im not sayin we shouldn't care about the environment, and i know they have to regulate things; i don't want my kids to breath in toxic air and need to wear special suits b/c the atmosphere is toxic, but it seems that everyone is jumping on the global warming bandwagon.

maybe that is why they threw my car on the rollers at the state inspection station. they know you can delete the sensor codes, hollow out cats, and ect, so just b/c nothing seems wrong doesn't mean nothing is. And b/c they r the state, i guess they have to go above and beyond. I mean it would be like tryin to beat the breathalyzer test; you can act as sober as you want to, but you can't change what you "spew out".

I wonder if your gas station type inspection station would go beyond checking the computer out on a OBD-II car.

So instead of buying SIMS you'll have to pay more to have the codes tuned out.

The EPA is opening a can of worms and they're going to start fighting a losing battle.

what it comes down to is ppl are going to do what they want to do no matter what anyone says. And they will always find a way to do it. yes, they have to regulate somethings, not doing so would be irresponsible, BUT it isn't just cars that pollute...ever see what a coal power plant spews out? Ever see the Sunoco plant in west depfort, or how bout Philly and those factories? The EPA should be hammering those guys, not the isolated pockets of "tuners" out there. NEW cars should be kept in check that come off the assembly line, factories, ect.

Like i said ppl are going to do what they want and will always find a way to do it. This is going to be a losing battle with A LOT of wasted money....think of the "war on drugs" we have been fighting for about 30 yrs...

Well you can bet hot ont he heels of this decision is going to be fines for anyone caught using them in an over the road car. I'll tlel ya though, I had an ORY and sims for awhile and the car just doesn't run as good for every day driving and your gas mileage goes to crap. I made about 10 more RWH without cats but I actually prefer having the cats now with a good tune to support them, I think the car runs better all around even if a few peak ponies are left behind. New converters are so efficient I think most people give the ORY too much credit on a street car, I think you run into biggerrestrictions in the cat-back nowadays. I think you would be btter off keeping CATS and putting a cut-out in after them and before the muffler.

I agree 100%. Dumping a cat on a newer car isn't like it is on an older car with a pellet-style cat.

No your right but if its not the EPA, theres always someone trying to take away your rights, like the FCC with freedom of speech and so on, its a never ending battle and theres always a polititician in someones back pocket.

I can't see where that's going to get very far in court. They claim the sims alter the emission's output and it doesn't. The rear O2's are only there to tell the computer if the cats are going bad. Putting sims in place of the rear O2's do nothing to change the emission's. Removing the cats will alter the emission's as well as other modifications. I bet it's just because the sims are a cheap way to modify the vehicle by fooling the computer.

Actually I think the sims can alter your fuel trim, which can alter the emissions output but putting more or less gas through the engine.
