Ignition
Couple questions:
1) how long do MSD wires last (mile wise), like 60K?
2) MSD Blaster Packs; they really worth the $800 for the setup? I know LS1's have a pretty kick-*** stock ignition system, will i notice a difference?
3) Plugs; i have BOSCH 2x Platium in there now, how long do they norm last (mile wise)? Also, i was thinking of doin Iridium plugs, they worth it, or should i use 4x platium plugs if i get the MSD multi-spark blaster packs???
i'm trying to build my car the right way by doing the supporting mods first then the big stuff. I'm buyng a beater in a couple weeks so my SS will be a pleasure car only.

First off you can pick up MSD coil packs for abouyt $475-$500 brand new on Ebay, I wouldn't pay $800.00 for them. MSD wires last a long time, if you are worried about them OHM them out and see how much resistance is in them. My opinion is unless you have an engine that runs at extremely high RPM's for a long time the MSD coils won't buy you much without the yet to be released programmable ignition box. I would go with stock coils, new wires (if need be) and NGK TR55 plugs. Iridium is better but you really won't notice the difference on a street car.

hmm, thanks. i saw a car at the nats with the MSD blaster packs, i was wonder what was so good about them over the stock ones

They are a better coil, but not worth the money for a low mod street car.

I don't think you'd see a difference without something over 402CI, a REALLY big cam or some sort of forced induction. Even then you are talking mostly reliability and consistency more then power gain. If I was going to a big hit of nitrous I would probably do it. If you are looking for something a little better check out the truck coils, they are slightly better then the car coils, but only marginally. To put it in perspective I am pushing over 500 engine HP with the stock coils with no issues of high RPM spark blow out.

stock GM coils are pretty good, no need for anything special...wires should last quite a long time, longer than factory i'd think...and for plugs, anything with more than 1 tip on it is a waste of time and money. like batman said, some Tr55's would be good
