Went for a Ride in Evo 2005
well today i went for a ride in a 2005 evo and man let me say im having thoughts. I wanted to get a ls1 camaro but now im having thoughts of saving and waiting to get a evo. Car was fun to drive but then again i've never been in a 6 speed ls1 so idk.

well then imagine the pull at max spool you feel from the evo, now imagine more of that, now imagine that throughout the entire RPM's. That's a 6 speed LS1

They're fun but yeah...there are a couple around that try messing with me...you would think after getting spanked a few times they'd stop. Oh well. If they get faster then I'll just juice it 
If I had a choice between an EVO and a 6-speed LS1 vehicle(whether it be a vette for fbody) I'd take the LS1

get the ls1 and throw a turbo on it, right around 7-8 psi and see if you can keep traction. to each their own, but i think i'd rather have a platform i can continue to mod rather than one from the factory that's already max'd out.

u have an LT1 right now right?
think of it this way, that brand new Evo has the same horsepower as your 11+ year old camaro, and only because it COMES with a turbocharger
considering the LS1 is the next step up from LT1 and the LT1 is produces as much N/A hp as the Evo does boosted you gotta be smokin sumthin good to think the Evo is faster than the LS1
also for the price of a 05 Evo you could probaly find an LS1 car for enough less money money that you could throw a turbo on it and still be less money than the Evo and feel what a real engine feels like with boost

Evo STis are soooooooooooooooooooooooo played out. They are just as bad as Civics. They don't look good, they don't sound good, and they don't taste good. I know, 'cause I've eatin' a few w/ the AMX!

i remember when i was over at atco with some of the guys from here and a dude had an evo and he said he had like 80 grand into it and he was only running 14s, we then proceeded to laugh hysterically at him

I must say as much as id rather have a Ws6 but my buddies evo with nothing more then a flash was runnnin 12.9s at the track. I also beat my buddies wrx which has quite a bit of work. Im pretty impressed by those turbo 4 cyl. I hate sayin that ughhhhh

It angers me how well theyve done with making the evo and sti's...but one good point made here is that these engines are already modded from the factory pretty much...again there is no replacement for displacement,
Sure this lil 4 banger is quick from the factory but unless you have alot of money ur pretty much stuck.
And like i always say...whats the point in having a quick car when it sounds like a lawnmower

i think they actually WATCHED it run a 14......which means.....he was making shakedown runs, he didnt know how to launch, or he put on too big a turbo with not enough supporting mods to help it spool........
a modded evo can be a very fast car, but stock vs. stock, bolt on vs bolt on they have no shot

a chipped evo running 12.9 will get beat by a well tuned stock LS1 car. Hell, GMHTP got a 2001 SS to go 12.8 bone stock at 3600 lbs!!!!
