GM employee price?

Hey everyone, I was wondering if anyone knows anything about GM employee pricing. I've been looking around online trying to find there definition of an "eligible employee" and haven't been able to find anything. I work at a Pontiac dealer as a mechanic. But every time I ask my boss about it he works around the question. I guess my question would be, Is the employee price extended to Supplier employees only or is it also offered to Dealership employees?

I am looking at G8's and just wanted to check this before I buy anything.

Thanks

ask your boss' boss. if your boss isn't giving you the right answer, it's time to go over his head. i think it's crap that he is avoiding the question and it might be that he just doesn't know. in any case, if you have repeatedly asked him about it an he hasn't come up with an answer for you, then it's time to get his boss involved.

You need to be a recent collage grad(within the last two years)in order to get the GM employee invoice discount. In the case of the G8 it works out to about $1,200. I was quite surprised to find out that YES that's all the discount the dealers have to work with! You will also need to have a 2001 or newer GM car in order to get the GM loyalty discount of $1,000. My son got both of them for a total of just over $2,300 off of list price, LOL.

Thanks for the replies. The dealership I work at is pretty small, I think we have a total of 4 employees. And my boss is the owner/parts manager/sales person/service manager, so it makes it a little difficult when he wont answer questions. I'll try and press the question a little more. I'm probably going to look into buying one after I get back from vacation in June. And I'll probably go to a different Pontiac dealer to buy one.

I was not sure how the Employee thing worked, If you had to work for a supplier or if it also carried down to the dealership level. I know they had the incentive thing where any customer could get the employee pricing if they met the criteria. Does the college grad and a newer than 2001 GM vehicle still matter if your an actual employee? Thanks again.

The college grad part doesn't matter, but to get the GM loyalty discount you'll need an '01 or newer GM car/truck/van/whatever.

There are several levels.

There is GM Employee Pricing
GM Supplier Pricing
and then there is the GM Dealer Employee Pricing.

There is a code that you must use in the paperwork or whatever that will allow the dealer to go that low. Around here its not popular, but in states like Mich. they do it all the time.

If you have questions there is a dealer section on gminsidenews.com to where you can ask questions. I think your boss is trying to prevent you from getting a discount.

Whatever you might qualify for, I found that you can get a better deal just haggling. The Ford dealership D Plan discount was still like $200 over "invoice", but if you know what invoice is on the vehicle you want, you can haggle under it.

I was able to set up an account with GMded.com to see what my discount is. It's about $2500 on a G8. Plus other incentives that are out. Didn't look like there were many incentives on the G8 because its a new model. Just have to wait and see how everything looks after vacation in June. That and the dealer I work at hasn't gotten any G8's yet. They will probably get one when there old news.
