I thought I had a header gasket blown out on the 396 but decided to check all the plugs tonight in preparation of going to Carlisle and sure enough the last plug I checked was loose! I knew it wasn't quite running right.
And I also got a first gen rear view mirror put in for the time being so it will be safe to drive on the PA turnpike! Woohoo, 8 cylinders and 4 barrels working again!
