So ricers cannot afford the gas to go to events? LOL. Most musclecar shows are even or better this year from the reviews I'm seeing online.

NHRA has picked up allot of the classes and will be running them now. Although I don't really like the racing ( mostly because I'd rather hear a V8 rumble down the track), I do have to admit I'm impressed with the performance level they get out of those engines.

I liked their wet t-shirt contests. Only reason why I watched the re-broadcast on Speed.

NHRA ANNOUNCES CATEGORIES WITHIN LUCAS SERIES AND SUMMIT SERIES FOR INTERESTED SPORT COMPACT RACERS

Interested sport compact racers can continue to compete in this season in the
NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series and NHRA Summit Racing Series

GLENDORA, Calif. (July 17, 2008) – On the heels of yesterday’s disappointing announcement by NOPI Motorsports regarding the cancellation of the remainder of the NOPI Drag Racing Series season, NHRA has outlined the classes in which sport compact racers can compete in the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series and NHRA Summit Racing Series.
Sport compact racers in the Pro RWD, Pro FWD, Modified and Hot Rod classes can compete in the Competition Eliminator category as of now. All Motor racers can compete in the Super Stock category effective January 1, 2009. Both categories are part of the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series, the premier Sportsman series in drag racing. Drivers in the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series compete for national and divisional championships and select categories are showcased at NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series national events as well as divisional events around the country.
Racers who competed in the Sport FWD, Sport RWD and Street Stock class, can continue to race within the NHRA Summit Racing Series. The NHRA Summit Racing Series features a bracket racing format that allows drivers to compete on an equal basis against each other. NHRA Summit Racing Series Finals are conducted in each of NHRA's seven divisions with winners moving on to the NHRA Summit Racing Series National Championship held in conjunction with the NHRA POWERade season closer in Pomona.
Both NHRA series are conducted at NHRA member tracks around the country. Sport compact competitors are encouraged to log on to nhra.com to obtain more information on upcoming races in their area.
