A giant (bad word) you to Summit (Rant)
So, I order a Tonneau Cover for the Sierra on December 12th. Website said it will ship, today. After checking for 3 days, and not getting an email stating it was shipped, I called. A very nice lady informed me that, yes it was in stock and it will ship today. 2 days later, still nothing and now the website says out of stock until 1/25/09. I call up again and calmly state that I order the cover when it was in stock, have waited for 6 days for it to ship, and still nothing. The guy says there's nothing he can do, they're out of stock. I could have canceled the order right there, but with nothing else online I decided to wait.
On 12/30/08, I called again. The items in stock date had changed so I checked it. The lady said that it will still ship on 1/15/09 now. I ask is there a way I could switch the order for one in stock. She checks, and finds one in stock, same cover and price. Great, and it will ship today.
On 1/5/09, I finally got it. I go to install it today, and as soon as I open the box, it just doesn't feel right. Everything seems too long, and the frame rails of the wrong color I ordered. Screw it I figured, no ones going to see it. Installation is going fine until the cover rails go on, they're about a foot and half too long. @#$$%#@$@#$@#%%
I call summit, again. I try to say that I ordered a short bed version, but was sent a long bed one instead. The order number begs to differ, and summit refuses to pay for return shipping. I take everything apart, box it back up, package it and drive down to have it shipped.
$105 to ship back to summit, and there's nothing I can do because they are saying that its my fault. The best part, since there prices went up since I ordered it, they want 18 more dollars to exchange it for the smaller bed cover.
/Rant

Any refusal of the company to correct their mistake would be resolved with a call to AMEX on my part.

Update: Called up summit one more time to explain my case. Again, they flat out refused to even help out a little bit of shipping. The cover is already on its way back, I canceled the order, got some anger off my chest at the guy, (not right I know, but it just came out. I apologize at the end and just hung up on him. ) I just order it off Jegs. Hopefully, that works out better even though I've had more problems with Jegs before than Summit.

I shall add your story of misfortune to my list of "Why do you use your CC for everything instead of (insert any paying method besides CC here)." Sorry about your luck, hopefully you can get some money back.

Great, now my CC was declined at Jeg's cause it will put my CC over its limit. Stupid extremely low student credit rating system.
Just paid the balance, now awaiting approval.

Was the box taped shut when you received it? I wonder if it was a mislabled one that somebody else already returned and that's why it appeared in stock. I received the same mispackaged part from Jegs 3 times in a row before I gave up. I think it was a manufacturer packaging problem and tried to explain it to them and told them to pull one off the shelf and check. They wouldn't, so I canceled the order. I will always try to sell something myself if a company wants me to pay shipping and especially a restocking fee. Put it on Ebay and buyer pays actual shipping and you usually get 90-95% of your money back. Or sell it local with no shipping. That suks that they didn't ship it in the first place which led to the order changing and getting screwed up even more.

dude. that sucks. why didnt you just go to your local truck parts store and order one out of the catalog? the guy by me has it next day with no extra charge, and it was actually a little bit cheaper than summit or jegs. im sure harringtons on 23 would have got it for you

From my experience, Harringtons basically doubles the price on everything that Summit sells.

I really hate that about summit. You have to yell and scream to get your way. If you ordered it over the phone its clearly their fault. The stupid ass didnt key something in right.

Update: Got a call from Summit today, they received the bed cover and just making sure everything is there before refunding my money.
And I received the new bed cover from Jegs today. Had that thing installed in about an hour and a half. And damn does it look good on there.
Bad part, its freezing cold outside and I still can't feel my extremities. Maybe next time I won't wear shorts when I do it.
