LS4 Questions...

Hey all,
I'm contemplating selling my Jeep within the next few months and getting a newer DD. I really like the look of the '06-'07 Monte SS, and they have the 5.3L LS4 with Displacement on Demand. Some people complain that the DoD sucks around town, which is where I do 90% of my driving to get to and from work. What's so bad about the DoD? Is it possible to tune it out for around town driving, and only enable it above 50mph? And, does anyone here have experience with these cars - how quick are they, and how do they handle in snow?

Thanx in advance guys!!

Steve,

You may want to check out LS1tech, they have a forum for LS4 cars.

Thanks Chris! I just signed up on Tech last night, so I'll do some searching there for sure. I was hoping maybe one of the tuners here could enlighten me on the DoD setup, and if they even support tuning for the LS4.

I never heard of any problems with the AFM systems in any truck or car. I drove a two-mode Tahoe hybrid that also uses AFM, and between that and the electric motor coming on, it was seemless.
