I got my Grandmoms old Zenith High Fidelity Phonograph working and my wife and I are listening to some Doors albums on it. I am very impressed with the sound quality from it!! Does anyone know of a good place to get replacement stylist? I went to the local record cd store last night and they dont carry any and they were not sure were to get them from. Its a double stylus. I am not sure what I need to purchase for it as its about 25 yrs before my time.

radio shack used to be able to order them. even stocked some but I doubt it anymore. online.

I still have a working turntable. Vinyl is often clearer than the original cd releases back in the day, and not over driven and messy like most modern 'remaster' cds. True for many older records, but not all.

The Led Zep 10 cd 'cube' is sonically superior to the rest of their catalog (albeit somehow the left & right channels were swapped!), as is the original 4 disc box set (and the later 2 disc supplement of missing tracks). the recent best of (later days...) sounds like crap. How The West Was Won is over driven and too hot.

Master of Puppets sounds best on vinyl, crisp. Their last new cd is a sonic disaster, which is why people who really care about the quality snapped up the vinyl resale of it. The physical limitations of records is a good thing. We had a whole thread on this when death magnetic came out.

yard sales & flee markets are great for $2 records.

I listen to WMMR to Pierre Robert here in Philly and every afternoon he does a vinyl cut and it kicks ass. One day he played side 1 of the Wall and the next day Side 2 of the Wall all Vinyl..

I found another record store in the Berlin Farmers market that I will see if they carry anything..

As someone too lazy to work up a record collection this is true. Music sounds the best coming out of a good quality record player, from a good quality record. It just something about the deepness and richness of a record that digital media cant capture.

Interesting tidbit I read. Record presses are the fastest growing form of tangible music media today.
