				Lemon titled cars

My current dd has a lemon title. My parents bought the car thinking they were getting a great deal and never did a carfax until we tried to sell it only to find out it was dubbed a lemon for intermitant stalling. I've never had any issues regarding stalling except for some repairs its needed due it having 117K on it. My question is the car was originally purchased in PA, by someone who was always missing payments(some how my mom got subaru to give out that info), where it was dubbed a lemon for something its never done. Is there anyway to get the titled changed since I've never had that issue and now the car being titled in NJ. I want to get rid of this come dec or jan for a G8 or WRX, but I don't want have to wait to sell it privately or to only be given 1000 bucks trade in.

I beileve you're stuck with a lemon title. For insurance reasons, and for reasons like flooded cars, keeping a title lemon/salvage is to protect the consumer buying a car and not allocating all the information of the car to find out if its salvage/ lemon is on the purchasers, it cannot be changed. You're better off parting it out.

i would just get all documentation of it being a lemon for mechanical reasons and not due to anytype of damage or structural problems. then sell it on the local private market to a kid with too much money and blinders on |

You just need to wait for the right buyer, explain to them why is a lemon, and see what they want to do.

Depends on what goodies are on it, and what is sought after. third thing you could do is put it in a public auction, and set it at a reasonable price ,see if it sells.

I was told to bs with the dealership, since most of them buy the cars and ship them to a state where there is no lemon law..such as florida. Honestly, nothing is on the car that is worth much...its the 3.0D which is not mod capable, pcm isn't tunable unlike the sought after 2.5i, auto trans etc etc. If the dealership is a wash, then I'll have to find a auction(no idea where to find one), or just be honest when I sell it privately. I've never lied about cars i've sold and usually get my asking price....

Dealership should have disclosed it was deemed a lemon upon purchase, right?

Yea, should just be the car fax. I've never heard of a "Lemon title" before.

Yea, I looked it up last night. DMV publishes a list with the year / make / model / VIN of every car they have on file with a NJ Lemon title: http://www.nj.gov/lps/ca/ocp/lemreport/lemonvin.pdf
