If anyone needs some electrical work done,
Give me a PM email or call. I have been in and out of work since November with my back problems, I just had the surgery I have been waiting on for months this past wednesday.
I'm very behind on the bills and i have a 5 month old daughter now i have to think about. those of you with kids know how expensive babies can be.
right now im living in southern nj but im looking for anything that can put money in my pocket really. i have over 10 years experience and do hold a nj contractors license among other certificates of interest that dont really apply to residential work.
i have done some electrical stuff for guys on this board in the past so im hoping i can now and in the future
thank you guys
steve

I'll be the first to chime in - Steve is awesome, especially if you have an older home with weird issues (like mine!). He was able to straighten out some wacky stuff that was done by the contractor when our addition was built. Great guy and very easy to work with!!

yup making lamps and other things out of auto parts is a great way to bring both of your skills together and make some money from home. i guarantee you that if you post classified ads on all the major car sites that youd have a lot of interest for them. hell if they look nice enough id love to see what you produce and maybe pick up a few more for my man cave

i have some very good ideas in my head now that the suggestion was made. my father in law is a gunsmith and master carpenter so i have access to just about any chemical or tool i could ever need...i think they will come out beautiful if i can get some camshafts..

I started working on the lamp last night to try and get things going a bit. I did a little research and felt that most of the ones I have seen so far are made kinda crappy. I hope a few more cams pop up this week for me to build more so I can offer some options but for now here is a shot of my prototype from earlier. keep in mind its not done yet so some things are gonna be changed like the wire color and obviously i need to pick a shade. the base i handmade from american black walnut and sanded to 320 grit and 4 coats of lacquer. let me know what you think

looks good, maybe some black paint with a small brush between the lobes to break up the all steel look, and maybe a small dog dish hubcap for a base might look cool and a little different, keep up the good work

I think it looks great! Any issues with stability due to the smaller base and heavy cam?
LMK if you want the flat tappet cams I have listed in your WTB ad.

Wow, that looks great!! Does the wire run through the cam, or up the back?
Years ago I made a lamp out of a broken flute at work, but that was easy since a flute is hollow LOL.

Was out in the garage and if you used a old rotor for the base painted and hit up some junkyards the old hubcaps are very ornate and have great design. A Caddy cap from the 5Os with 16 valves or rings or plugs drilled at the top and dangling from the edge of the cap to create a look of "crystals" might even make the misses stop and look twice... kinda like this. Even using a old GM distributor shaft as the center section would be cool for a small lamp on a desk at work, or a nightlight
