Well I won a helmet off of Yahoo auctions last night for a whopping price of $20.50 shipped. It's brand new in the box. Well the seller contacted me today and said sorry for any inconvenience but they didn't realize they didn't set a reserve price and they won't sell it that cheap.

Aren't online auctions legally binding? How can I go about getting my helmet for the winning price?

That's ILLEGAL for him not to sell it to you, as the auction HAS ended and now he MUST sell it to you. If he refuses, contact yahoo about it. they usually give a link or address to send an email complaint to.

yeah Yahoo has quite the confusing site. I sent an e-mail to one of their numerous addresses today to see what action they want me to take. Hopefully I'll hear back soon.

That sucks.
I'm done buying from auctions. When you calculate the price they charge for shipping and handling.....
www.pricewatch.com posts the prices WITH max shipping for the 48 states! Very handy and keeps the "super deals" from being hidden by $40 shipping charges.
Good luck with the actions. Yahoo can only suspend their account if they don't sell it to you. I've got a chip for you to try out. I also want to see exactly what skidownit did. It really felt like too much timing. Also you'll be amazed at what he did!!! He added SO MUCH fuel to cover up the knock that you're injector pulse widths dead-head at 3200rpm. I'm going to have to post the calibration on thirdgen.org's diy prom board to show everybody how a bad tune can look "alright" but in reality destroy your engine. Seriously, don't drive it under much load until I get my hands on it.

Legally, if you had enough time and money on your hands, you could sue him for it...

I'm not at my computer at home right now, but I am on a law forum and I know a great thread on sellers not following through with selling...

However, bottom line.. you're S.O.L. unfortunately. You could take him to court and MAKE him sell it to you, but that just wouldn't be worth the time or money.

I e-mailed yahoo and actually got a response. They said they obviously can't force the seller to sell but that I may have a legal case against them I'm going the give the seller until tuesday to get back to me and then I'm going to forward that e-mail to them. As far as legal action, I may do it. I get unlimited legal service through my job for $30 a month and I'm gonna need it for suing my old machine shop anyway so I'll probably sign up for January.

Prevo.....I'd love to test out that chip.....you gonna be available any night this upcoming week, maybe friday night if not sooner? I'd love to get it running a little better cause I want to get it dyno'd on the 16th at TTP. Although money is a serious issue right now. My fan clutch let loose on my truck this week and the fan went right through the radiator. $500 in parts damage. I also found out why the truck is running like crap...fuel pump is dying so that's monday night's project. Did I mention I also need a full cat back like now cause mine's falling off?
