Recall Notice

Is there a time limit set for acting on recall notices?

For example: 881012 JAN 88 Body - Revised Painting/Replacement of Spoiler

Thats a recall for the infamous splitting and cracking aero-wing spoiler on a Trans Am. Mine has a bunch of cracks. Common sense says no they wouldn't honor the recall, however I'm still curious to know.

Usually recalls last forever until they are addressed by the manufacturer.

I am not familiar with Pontiac, only MB

recall eh? hey let me know if you get it done, i have 2 areo wings that could use free replacement. too bad the actual parts are now discontinued by GM. maybe they have a few 91-92 aero wings left. lol

from what I can tell, that's a service campaign, not a Safety Recall....as it does not involve any safety item.....

They will most likely not honor it, as it has been over 17 years, and any cracking now would be attributed to weather/age, etc.

Thats what I figured. I might just give the local Pontiac service station a call and find out. Doesn't hurt to call, though the laughing on the other end of the line might be a little embarrasing.

I just need my steering wheel b&m mega shifter gas and brake pedal rear panel seatbelts seats and i got to find some new door panels to match the seats. and i have to finish my headliner.
that should be done the very first week of spring.
Im picking up the seats the first or second week on feb from a guy in pensy.

gm had an "unofficial" paint recall in the mid to late 80s for certain years- it was only a 5 year grace period though- if its not a saftey related item they will usualy put a limit. i think your aerowing is a little passed that :P
