Hey Tim, remember this car we saw in Lancaster?

The PA Power in the Park trip. We saw that red Yenko in the showroom and I said "it must be a clone, because they didn't make any red Yenkos". That car could probably have been bought for $75K or less back then. Now look at it:

Red 69 Yenko

I'm sure the reserve is set at $200K at least.

I think there were 199 Yenko Camaros in 69 and they were all factory installed 427's. 67 and 68 were engine swaps done by Yenko and I think it was less than 75 each year. Those look like old Traction Master traction bars that are welded to the rear axle tube.

wow. i remeber that. it was on teh left side of teh road in a showroom with glass on 3 sides.
that is a pretty car.
the yenko on my dream car list is still one of teh gold with black graffics/interior 68's though. last one i saw sold went for 242,xxx about 2 years ago. it is the rarest color of yenko conversion cars. i think there are 3 still known to exist.
it also jsut struck me how sick we both are that we could both remember seeing that car. that was how many years ago? lol

later

Well, after closer looks at the trim tags and VIN tags, this car really looks questionable to a lot of the experts. Something doesn't look right so keep an eye on this one.

the first thing i looked for was the firewall tag, and those are not the original rivets. pass on this one, move on to the next car.

it's a shame people have to try to get over. while they may have spent $50k on the resto (or more) why do they have to lie about what it is in an effort to get more money out of it? i cringe when i see cars like this, because you know someone, somewhere is going to buy it and once they realize they have a devalued copy they will wish they had done some research ahead of time on the tell-tale signs of forgery. it's all about the almighty dollar.

if the police got involved with this, it would only end up with a disorderly persons charge and a $500 fine, so it's safe to say that deterence doesn't exist.

Well, this car is the real deal. It's a real Yenko that was repainted red. And it was restored a long time ago so they apparently removed the trim tag while restoring it and it looks like they hit the VIN tag with a sander. But this will probably be the lowest priced Yenko you will find because of the changes to the color and interior. It's definitely a $200K car if it's painted the orginal Lemans Blue with black standard interior.
