if you go to a straight carb, youll also need a new distributor with a vac. advance. The electronic carb/ecm setup currently in your car uses the carb and stock distributor together to make adjustments, without one part, the other is useless or impaired.

 | No T5 behind an engine with balls. TKO or T56.

if it comes down to buying vs rebuilding an engine, go with a GMPP crate motor. for the costs of rebuilding an engine reliably at a machine shop that often only gives you a very short and limited warranty if any at all, you can get a bullet made with all brand new parts and a 3yr/36k mile warranty. it also invovles way less down time since a lot of the crate motors you will just need to hook up a few things to get running.
the only way "building" a motor is really worth it is if you are going for something all out and need to pick and choose parts yourself.
