Yeah another paycheck....
and yeah another $300 bill for my car. Got another freaking flat this time a screw where the sidewall starts to curve around onto the driving surface.

you gotta watch with that....90% of the time if you have a shop tell you that its BS. the tire bish just don't feel like fixing it.

I know it sounds like a sales pitch, but at SEARS we offer a Road Hazard on all of our tires. It will replace the tire for FREE(within the first 25%)of the tires life and then it is prorated if the tire is unrepairable, such as a NAIL in the side wall. We also repair them the CORRECT way! All other flats are fixed for free for the life of the tire. It costs about 10% of the original tires price, but with the cost of these 17" and larger tires, it is not bad insurance to have.

i have used the outside plugs for along time even at the shop i wokred and never saw any problems. rope patches always outlasted the tire. Just got to make sure its the nice quality sticky kind and you put it in right

Amen, yeah I knew someone who had a flat, and came over to my house. The tire was flat adn he couldnt get the plug in there, im like you idiot, you gotta have pressure behind it so the tire doesnt fold in. We put pressure in it, plug went right in, and havent heard a problem since. Same thing goes for my Ranger, picked up a screw in the parkig lot at work, plugged it, and its fine, no leaks. As long as you use both lobes of your brain when workign on cars ,and especially important items, you should be ok lol.

I wouldn't let a plug near my tire except to get me to a good tire place. 99.99999999% of places that just plug a tire don't break the tire down, because if you'd bother go through all that trouble, you'd fix it right. You didn't see a problem because the problem happened down the road after they left the shop. Not breaking down the tire is bad customer service and needlessly risks the lives of everyone in the car.
The correct way to repair a tire is:
* Remove & inspect the tire for internal damage. This is the #1 reason plugs are bad. You have no idea if the inside of the tire is sound. This nail could have nicked another part of the inside of the tire, or there may be runflat damage that cannot be seen yet is very dangerous.
*Properly prep the injured area, then properly install a plug patch. The patch seals the inner liner and the plug seals the belt package from water intrusion. Plugs do neither, and the act of shoving the plug in can in fact further damage the belt package.
*Reinstall the tire on the rim, check for leaks & rebalance the assembly.

i think i read somewhere bout how GM recommends a patch-plug be used. and i think if a tire goes below 20psi, internal damage starts to occur. most dealerships use the rope. my ex-boss's son worked at a chevy dealership, he rope pluged a tire, balanced it to make sure it was still in-balance and it zipperd and exploded on him. i will never use a rope plug, nor will i let any1 i kno use one.

i going to buy 4 Sumitomo HTR Z for the stock salad shooters, its the same cost as replacing the BFG KDWs on my Z06 wheels. Then i'll be able to hit the drag track and really brake something too.

Its always something w/ these cars man, especially if you race them. My 03's almost paid off and I swear Ill never have another car payment ...or atleast until im making alot more money then I am now. When it is Im going to unload the collision on my insurance buy a LT1 outright and have a modfest.

Easy come easy go, we just got our taxes back and they are going to our new roof and yesterday one of my daughters caps came off delaying our trip to the NYAS which sucks
