				just wondering

what can i get away with with exhaust without being harrassed by the cops in south jersey. i was thinking either hooker catback and LTs or Magnaflow and LTs, but i dont know if ill get stopped for it. and as long as i keep emmissions and cats, they shouldnt do anything at the inspection station, right?... it just all makes me nervous. let me know.. thanks

I haven't been harassed by the police at all with my exhaust and my car is LOUD....the inspection centers are a different story but dont drive like a nut and more then likely you wont be bothered by the police

Most cops don't even care about loud exhaust unless your rolling with your cut-outs open.

i had SLP LM LT's and ORY and never was bothered by the cops. but when i did see cops i would let off and just cruise by. you should be alright. oh and my cousin is a cop up in north jersey and i was askin him about the laws because everything i was doin with my car and he told me that a cop can give you a ticket for just about anything you can think of. So it really all depends on the cop and what kind of mood hes in lol

i havent had any problems with LTS and Magnaflow. I dont think most cops care as long as your not waking neighborhoods up. We will see in august when i need to be inspected

IT SHALL NOT BE A VIOLATION OF THIS SUBSECTION UNLESS PROVEN BY PROPER AUTHORITIES THAT THE EXHAUST SYTEM MODIFICATION RESULTS IN NOISE AMPLIFICATION IN EXCESS OF NINETY-FIVE DECIBELS UNDER THE PRESCRIBED SAE TEST STANDARD.

Under the SAE standard, a sound meter is placed 20 inches from the exhaust outlet at a 45-degree angle and the engine is revved to three quarters of maximum rated horsepower. The highest decibel reading is then recorded...

I've never heard of a case of an inspection station actually having a decibel meter at the facility, so technically they cannot fail you for loud exhaust (unless they actually test it).

I'm running around with a 1/2in gap betwine my headers and Y(stupid crossmember) and not getting any issues about noise
A friend of mine makes custom exhausts, I'm having him do a 3in set up on my T/A, he's in egg harbor city, and they do excellent work

i always thought cops should carry dB meters to write loud exhaust tickets and stereo tickets as well. human hearing alone varies enough person to person, never mind the environmental variables. though i never got a ticket for either, i still think its beat. oh and i ran my 93 f 250 with the 351 windsor straight out of the cat with gibson headers. never got harassed. it was gutted for a bit too. sounded so sweet.

I have LTs, TSP duals, big cam and a bottle in the backseat and I get pulled over for my 5% tint all the time.

My friends have this joke that I could have the biggest ci LSx motor made w/ open headers doing 200mph spraying on the highway....and i'd get chased down only due to my tint.

I actually bought exhaust tips and plan on running the duals under the axel out the back due to this.
