				Shop Sticker Question

Do stickers from a private inspector look different from state inspection stations?
my friends got a few from a private shop and they look bootleg compared to the dmv issued ones.

Then they probably are bootleg. There is no major difference between the two.

state inspectors leave their name above the month of expiration. private inspectors for the most part don't. other than that, exactly the same.

speaking of inspections stickers...anyone know where i could buy one? my brothers vette was last passed, not the right way, in 04 and he needs a new sticker. it will never pass inspection and thats a guaruntee.
itd fail for emissions, parking brake, cowl too high, exhaust too loud, one blinker is retarted, stupidest stuff.

It's pretty hard to find a shop that will "pass" cars anymore. Not unless you know the workers personally. The state sends in cars that are designed not to pass with "owners" looking to get around the system. If they are caught it's a several thousand dollar fine and a loss of their inspection license for several years.

well its a normal printer that shoots the paper out. maybe it was a duplicate or they were having issues with their printer. this stuff is like 1990's and gets refurbished by someone in a warehouse who doesn't give a **** so anything is possible. just go through a parking lot of cars and look for yourself. new cars have new car dealer stickers.

I got an inspection done a couple of years ago at a private place and it was suppose to be legit but the sticker was all jacked. The number for the month was cut and pasted.

seriously. get the car fixed so it will pass going through a state run facility. i have an 'in' with someone that does inspections, but like justin said, they are skittish because of the law. also, if you are going to go the private route, do not run it through the state's system first. if there is any question about its ability to pass inspection, take it to a private shop first.

btw, the only way to get an 'in' at a private garage is to do business with them. they are more likely to look after their customers (read: the ones spending money with them) then they are someone off the street. find a good mechanic and take your car there for oil changes. whatever, just build a relationship with someone. then you will have an 'in' with a private shop that will sell you a sticker. there is no magic here, it's all about greasing the proper palms.

the PASS and month are usually bolder. and closer to the vin and such. i am pretty sure thats super fake. yeah thats fake.
edit: its a real sticker though. on the back of stickers it says stuff like wipers on lights on its the law and registration is renewed every year. if there isn't crap on the back of the actual sticker, its a phony

It could be that the green part is real, and the center part with the VIN, month, etc. is faked....

yeah thats what i meant. they might have scraped the sticker off of another car. but the center print out is wrong for sure. but over time, the glue on the stickers won't stick as well as it first did. especially if air bubbles are stuck between it and the windshield. just don't buy one please. you would be better off failing at a private center and driving and making up bs until you have time to get legal.
