Well I'm here in the sleep study room. The bed is sooooo comfy...I should fall asleep quickly, lol, even with all of the electrodes on lol.

I wasn't hooked up to the electrodes yet when I made the post. And yes, I could be online. It was more for today's testing, since I"d be up for 2 hours and then nap, then up for 2 hours and then nap. Needed something to do.
However, I suck. I couldn't fall asleep. The electrodes weren't bothering me, but one kept falling off on my head so they were constantly in the room pushing on my head to reattach it. The oxygen sensor on my finger felt like it was cutting off circulation. The air sensors and snore sensors in my nose were annoying. The AC made loud noises when it went on and off. Basically, it was a strange place and I couldn't fall asleep. Finally, at around 3am, we gave up, since I wouldn't get enough sleep for the test to be valid, so they took some of the stuff off, and I slept for 2 hours and then they sent me home.

My doctor had given me a sample of Ambien to take, but I got there pretty tired already, and didn't want to mess with the results, and I'd never taken it before and didn't know the effects, so I decided not to take it. If I had, I'd still be there now doing the other tests. Guess I'll be going back another time.

I'm lucky if I get 2 hours straight of sleep. I wake up constantly during the night and right now the birds and golf course workers wake me up at 5:15 every morning forcing me to get up and close the windows. I can't nap in the middle of the day so that doesn't help. Sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night thinking my 69 Z28 restoration is done, then I quickly realize I'm still dreaming!

I know, I usually have it good that I can sleep, and I sleep a lot. But the thing is, I sleep a lot...why can't I sleep when I NEED to? Granted, my mind was racing all night, and with the interruptions and the noise...it'd be hard for anyone to sleep. I dunno. I just feel silly that I couldn't fall asleep, when the whole purpose of going for the study was because I sleep too much. Blah.

I had a sleep study last week, was exhausted by the time it was over. They put all the electrodes all over my head...fine but then they tell you dont sleep on your stomach and keep you arms away from your head. Thats how I sleep so tell me how can they effectively get a study done when I can't get comfortable? After it was over they said come see the doctor in 7 days. Then call me up the next day and tell me its imperative that I come in for another study cause I am such a severe case... WTF I told them I know I have bad apnea I know I need CPAP, I have been in medicine for a little over 17 years and even though this has nothing to do with emergency medicine I can understand it. Now I have to try and get a day off that matches their schedule just so they can write me a script for the damn machine. I would love to get a good nights sleep but that comes with getting rid of the wife, kids, dogs and cats. I would miss my dogs!

my previous family doctor (who is an idiot and my whole family hates him) made me do one last summer for my insomnia. I went in at like 10pm and never fell asleep until 4am, mainly because of all the crap they had on me. they didnt make me do the nap test though, but they do wake you up at like 6:30am which sucked considering i fell asleep around 3 or 4 am. they wanted to me to wear one of those things for sleep apnea but i was completely against it, i didnt have it anyway AFAIK. i never got the results back, which i should actually find out about from my new doctor.

After that I didn't want to leave the apt to go to work or anything...... Needless to say I stopped taking it.
