Heads/cam 3400 stall LT1. I have ZR1s so i think thats a 17 x 9.5 rim? And its strictly summer usage.

Why go DR's when you can just get a great summer tire? DR's are gunna give you horrible traction in rain. Id look for a set of summer performance tires.

If you want DRs for everyday driving, go with the Mickey Thompsons or Nitto 555R

You won't get very many miles out of the MTs, but they hook great. Nittos aren't as sticky, but they'll last longer.

As BiGals eluded to, you'll do better overall if you just get a set of good summer performance tires, and another pair of wheels with DRs for traction at the track.

If you are gonna do the second second set of wheels....Do the MT DR or some ET Streets.....

On the first set of wheels, I'd do some Goodyear F1 D3's I love mine rain or shine, they stick and you'll get good mileage out of them if you keep them rotated and don't drive like a complete boob every chance you get.

Go with the mickey's, they hook excellent and work good in the rain too.

Nope, this is strict road use. And it is only a summer tire, which is why I was leaning towards DRs since the car is not DD.

I run the Nittos, 60' times are only slightly better then a standard street tire, but they last and can be driven in the rain. The other DR's do have allot more grip, but remember they are going to then stress the rear? If you have an auto it's not as bad, but if you have a manual trans you should think carefully before ordering those real sticky DRs.

I was going to recommend the same tire. Great in the dry and rain and they hook decent for a non-drag radial tire. Tread pattern looks cool for whatever that's worth.

No not really. For what the car is, I can't complain.. On DR's it should do 1.6's

Well it is an auto, but its a biggish stall. But if I break the rear, such is life.

I have Bfg Dr's but the other style tread and I've been very happy with them. probably about 30 passes and 5k street miles and they look like they have another 2-3k to go. I had MT's on my mustang when i had that and by 20 track passes and 3k miles they were toast but they had more grip.

I cut low to mid 1.7's everytime with a very small burnout with the bfg's. I did a decent burnout once and deadhooked and it shook the car pretty hard and ses light etc came on. Everything was fine but i dont want to blow my rear.

GS D3's are outstanding. Goodyear has another summer performance tire, the Eagle
F1 Asymmetric that is supposed to be even better.

i beg to differ my friend. i used 3 kinds of DRs and the Nitto555r's are by far the best drag radial for the street in rain, and they hook awesome

BFG's hook ok... wear out as fast as the MT's or almost as close and don't hook as well.

Thats all it will boil down too is peoples opinions like i said before I've had all 3 and heres my take....

MT's- hook by far the best are the worst of the 3 in both rain and wear

BFGs- hook better then nittos but not as well as mts but last 7k or so street miles with 30 or so track passes

Nittos- better then a street tire are alright in the rain and will last 10k miles... problem is they are the least sticky and require more of a burnout to heat up and hook.

Ok so BFGs are a good median between a true DR and not so much DR but not street tire. Which is good, I don't drive it much to begin with, and I do not track racing. Thanks a lot Rich. Appreciate it.

I just dont understand the need to drive around with DR's all the time. I can see a spare set if you can do that, but to drive all the time in them?

Yea, I have had the car for over three years and put less than 8k on it. I just want a weekend warrior type of car going on. Al, if you can find me a tire that will hook well then I will get that, but what I am getting is that street tires won't hook that great but they will last and be ok in the rain. Well its only really a summer car, and I don't drive it in the rain anyway...
