				T-Top Disaster

So, I was driving early this morning in the crazy wind...
Cruising at about 45-50, I get hit by a head on wind gust. Without any warning rattle, the passenger side t-top gets sucked off. I watch it in my rear view fly about 10ft up, then shatter on the road. ****.

Luckily no one was around me to get hit by it. I guess the handle was not locked completely down or something. So, anyone selling or know where to get t-tops at a reasonable price other than ebay?

They usually have them, even if they are not listed on their site.

Out of the places Ive looked at so far, I think I can get one for about $140 in decent condition.
Adam, if your friend has one in good condition that hes willing to sell, hit me up. I tarped off the top for now, and the car will be sitting for the next week.

My 98 did that as well, I don't think its a latching issue as mine was latched at the time.

I think some of the guys on Tech and Cz28 figured out it has something to do with the aerodynamics of tops on and windows down. To me it seemed like such a random problem that it sounds more like a design flaw with the latch than some overpowering aero issue.

i never had a problem with mine, and i've driven at speed with most configurations. ie, driver window down, driver top off, pass. window up, pass top on, etc. never had a problem. of course, whenever the top was on it was locked. don't ask me why, that's just the way i roll.

Even if it's latched, if it's not locked it can probably move enough to allow room for it to pull out. I always leave my t-tpos locked just in case.

 | Yeah, don't know about the 3rd gens, I hate to admit it but this happened to my driver's side T-Top while I was driving down the highway.
KirkEvil, I was able to get mine for cheap about $75.00. It was at a salvage yard near McGuire AFB and they had it w/in 2 days for me. Maybe there is one in your area that can hook you up, I paid cash, which usually provides some extra motivation for most businesses. The part was in excellent condition and just needed a dusting off.
