So because someone has skewed morals they shouldn't be able to get a job? C'mon. I despise what Vick did...I'm a huge animal lover and it sickens me...however what does that have to do with football or a profession? Would it be any less sickening if a construction worker did it? It's OUR fault we put professional athletes on such a high pedestal, not theirs. At the end of the day they're human just like the "every day guy". If a team wants to take a chance on him all the power to them.
Granted, Vick could never work again and still live in comfort but maybe people need to see the attitude shown towards people who made some mistakes....and people wonder why there are re-offenders. No one wants to give them a chance.
I'm in no way condoning what Vick did, I personally would love to see a pit bull bite his nuts off but the fact is he's human, he made a mistake. He's NO different than Joe-Schmo who is trying to find work after having a brush with the law. "WE" put these athletes on a pedestal, that's not their fault.

Correct, i totally agree with frosty... just because hes in the spotlight 24/7 doesnt make him a person... MJ supposedly touched kids, and freddy mercury got aids, people do that **** all the time, but their legacies are now tarnished even though they are 2 of the best performers of all time

enough of the media, political correctness & public relations bullspit. You're not supposed to look to an entertainer as a role model, you look at them as an entertainer. That's where parents come in; people need to raise their own kids, not bitch about what other people are doing to make-up for their own shortcomings as role-models for their children.

arena football went down the economical shiittank this year so he wont be doing that.

haha but when it come down to it, mike vick is an amazing athlete. the year befor he broke his leg, he might have had the best arm in the nfl. by no means accuracy wise, but he had a cannon. who else could throw 60 yards with a flick of his wrist on the run?

wow some of you guys are screwed up... with what this man did he deserves no sympathy from anybody... if someone decides to sign him to play again thats there problem... but does he deserve it... mmm probobably not... seeing as most of us if you or i did what he did would probably still be in jail for it... it was inhumane what he did... he didnt get caught smoking pot or somthing stupid that you can call a "mistake".... he trained dogs to murder each other... and as for the guy talking about role models... yes its up to parents to raise their kids a cirtain way... but the kid growing up that wants to be a ball player as a kid and has every jeter thing known to man and all that... there is nothing wrong with being inspired by people.... same can go for musicians or actors and what ever... maybe some kid picks up a guitar at age 10 and says man i love metallica i wanna be like kirk hammet and play guitar when i get older... there is nothing wrong with that... ohh and one last thing... you say these guys are ordinary people... but i got news for you they arent... what i do in my everyday life may only affect a handful of people... but these people that are in the spot light have a responsibility to be somewhat of model citizens... im not saying they cant go out and get wasted drunk and do stupid things that wont affect peoples lives... but dog fighting and the other one buress bringning a gun to a club... and carrying it in his waste band like a hes some kind of gangster... and the gun wasnt even registered... i mean come on... can any of you avererage joes say that you would do that??? thats what i though NO!! as someone stated above... they only show remorse when they get caught... id spit in his face if i ever came across him for what him and his goons did to those animals... what a looser

fact of the matter is, he served his time, he served his nfl penalty, and as an american he now has a right to earn a living again. he just happens to be in the 1% of people with the physical abilities to play professional sports for a living.

Yes, because you're the poster child for normalcy and rational thinking. 
Not one single person in this thread was giving him sympathy....sorry some of us have common sense and see the big picture.
We all know what he did was despicable, we all know he deserves physical harm....however he also deserves the right to work...like Mike said...this is America.
Vick is slightly different because he has the ability to make millions but he's no different than some guy trying to make ends meet after serving prison time...**** happens...people make mistakes. The guy shouldn't be forced to live on welfare his entire life if he has the ability to earn a living. Unfortunately once you make a mistake you're branded for life and have to get lucky to find someone/a company to give you a second chance. Right or wrong that's the way it is.
Again, no sympathy, just using common sense.

If he does play again, at least there's hope that he'll suffer a catastrophic career-ending injury. Then justice will truly be served. God forbid my team ever signed this sorry excuse for human, that would be the last day I'd be a fan after 37 years.
