what gears?

well its time for gears and i need some input. right now i have the 3.42's in a m6 im coming throught the traps at 5100 rpm in 4th . rev limiter is set at 6600. i need to know what the best gear would be to get me around 6300 or 6400 rpm. All the online calculators are saying 4.10's will do it but i would only be trapping like 120. any personal experiences or info will help me. i just dont want to regret the gears i chose.

4:10's way to go if staying where your @ w/mods
& a good tire will give you great 60's and a couple tenths off your times

the car is going to stay like it is for a little while but either a bottle or turbo is the next step after the clutch and gears.

If you go with 4.10s you can go with a taller tire with spray. It's what most people do. I would just save for a new rear though

the 4:10's w/ a taller tire works, but if you like the way your car handles now and you drive it mostly on the street w/ little time @ track, then you should go with 3:73's if you plan to use spray or turbo.
3:73's on the juice or turbo will keep you from havin to shift to 5th @ the traps if you throw a lil taller tire on it when you go to the track
4:10's you be shiftin into 5th (obviously depends on size shot and where your rev limiter is set)

He can go with a 28" tire if he's trapping that high but I doubt it. I would never go with 3.73s with a 6spd again (I have had them)

read the quote.....
i stated if he likes the look & handling of his car the way it is then stay with 3:73's
a taller tire will give him more roll and lose his tightness in turns if he likes to actually drive his car on the street.

and trap speeds ....... like the quote says depends on what size shot/turbo he is gonna push.

well im def gonna keep the stock 25.5 for the street and i will buy another set for the track. i am thinking 3.90's will be a happy median. and as far as the rear i want to see how fast i can go with out breaking it. as long as i dont do any 6 grand dumps it should hold

i think 390's will keep me in the range i want to be in. with 410 i will red line around 122 mph with stock height. if i go 390 it will be around 130 which will give ma a little room when i hit it with the bottle or turbo eventually
