He was better off not getting it. He saved .50 that way.
UPS denied his claim as it was his fault. The amount of insurance does not matter.
He would have been better off spending $2 for packing materials. That would have saved him a lot of money.

I have his address, I got it when I first sent him the money order. I shouldnt have any respect left for this guy, but I still feel obligated to keep his identity private, for now.
Im going to keep bothering him to send me back my money for the next few days, then look into filing small claims. Maybe a letter for court appearance in NJ would prompt him to send the money. If he doesnt, I feel I have a strong enough case to win. And ruin all his chances of buying/selling on ls1tech.

More updates:
I havent heard back from the kid since June 7th. I found his home phone number and called his house. I talked to his Mom, and she insists the TC was packaged properly. I said it was not up to me to determine whether it was UPS's fault or not. In all honesty, I would have liked to see the money awarded by UPS so I would get my $500 back. She went on about how it was packed, and she has sold stuff on ebay, etc...She didnt seem to have the entire story of how her son handled the situation, and thought that since I didnt ask for insurance, I was at fault for the damage.
Long conversation short, the Mother is "looking into" the UPS claim and trying to stick up for the kid, which is to be expected. I said that if nothing is done by Monday, Im submitting for small claims and taking him to court in NJ.

take him to small claims court, get your court docket report number and then send it to Judge Alex or Judge Judy. doesnt matter who the judgement is for you'll get your cash, a free trip and a video you can post up on ls1tech of this kid being a loser.
