				V6 vs. LT1 gauge cluster

Thinking of maybe changing out my V6 gauge cluster with a LT1 cluster. is there any additional connections that would prohibit changing it over? Also, is a 93-96 cluster the same regardless of ODBI and ODB II, or was it a one year deal only with the 96 being ODBII ( not sure if ODBII would change anything idiot light or harness connection wise) Any insight would be helpful.
Or even better, if anyone has a cluster from either of those, and could take a photo of the back of it. thanks.

I don't know what year if came out of. But I had a v8 cluster in my old 95 v6. No additional work was needed to install

Alright, sounds promising. How was you're speedometer? did you have to have that adjusted for the V6's speed sensor, or was it just as accurate?

I think I have heard of tach and speedo issues but I know nothing first hand. The plugs are the same.

Just read up on CamaroV6.com that everything works...but you have to change a resistor in it to make the tach work properly. I guess it's a mod I'll proceed with in the near future

What about the speedo? Maybe it was just the fact that it was 110mph was the reason it was a "problem" |

Keep in mind that the speedometer maximum was determined by the tires equipped on the vehicle from the factory, not the engine. You could get an "LT1 cluster" with the lower numeric speedometer.
The resistor/tach thing sounds right as you have to make minor adjustments to aftermarket tachs for the same deal. If you get stuck you may even be able to use an aftermarket tach adaptor to correct the reading of your stock gauge.

WBT, who's got two thumbs and is kinda confused? this guy right here lol.
Also, our V6 oil gauges go to 120, while the V8's are 80. I'm already around 65-75psi....

Allow me to clarify. I am assuming that you want to do this for a few reasons, with one of them being that you want the 155 speedometer.Quote:

The engine or trim level did not set what speedometer the cars got. You could get a Z28 with a 115 speedometer . This was because of the speed rating on the OE tires. I'm just warning that if you get a cluster out of an LT1 car, sight unseen, you may be getting one with the lesser numbers.

And regarding the tach: aftermarket tachs can be set up for 4,6, or 8 cylinders depending on some minor adjustments. They make tach adaptors that might allow you to leave the cluster alone (if you don't want to mess with it) and just add a box to correct it under the dash (however I am not certain).

Edit: Oil pressure to 120? What?

Well the gauge goes to it (120) But I only hit 65-75 since I put the oil pressure upgrade kit from intense in it, so I'm a little above the halfway mark....yeah I know, dunno why they made it that high on the face though. Also the aftermarket tach one I know, my cheap one I had to put in my ford ranger ( my friend 98 auto came with on, but my manual didn't WTF Ford?) but i didnt know some came with 115 speedo's. I'll certainly keep that in mind.
