Street/Strip Tire
Looking for a 28 inch tire, for a 17 inch tall, 9.5 inch wide rim. (OEM ZR1 rim)
Seems like that only option is a M&H radials.

Guess you are stuck with the M&H tires then. Those snow tires you posted from Nitto don't look ideal.

Just want some decent tires to roll around on the street with.
Plan A) Get 275s for ZR1s, and some sort of 28 inch radial for the back.
Plan B) Rock the prostars with 28 inch ET street radials on the rear and get some 10 ply or whatever "safe" skinny tire I can find for the fronts.

At this point, yes, I know I won't hook for ****, but I want the car to be back on 17s and not have a speedo thats way off. (tune will be for 28 inch slicks)

Any thoughts on trying to mess with the tire specs to get a 28 inch tall tire, or stick with a 275?
(This thread can be moved to general tech if mods feel that its more general tech at this point)

28" tall is an "oddball" height for a 275 width street (not truck) tire.
I don't think any of the ones linked to above, besides the MT are going to have any real traction.

I'm with Paul on this one. A 28" 275 will be a truck tire size.
That Nitto is even listed as a "street truck/SUV" tire.

Ok, kinda swaying back to a M&H drag radial at 28 inch tall, but thats gonna be $540 for the pair. Odds are I will need 28 inch slicks as well, but thinking for the majority of the coming spring/summer I will want a nice cruise tire that won't kick out on every shift.

$540 for the radial pair isn't bad, but just can't decide if I want to cheap out on "street" tires and spring for slicks now, or get nice radials and wait for slicks till late fall.

Mt Street Radials are a good street/strip tire IF you don't drive the car much. It hooks very well when you get them hot. I got about 5,000 miles out of a set lol.
Tried a set of Nittos, don't hook for crap.

I've never ran into a tire did not fit a rim that was in the allowable range. that is why the manufacturers post those values. If your question does this tire fit a 7" rim, absolutely not. Does it fit an 8" rim? Yes. Is it ideal? Probably not. M/T uses 9.5 for its posted measurements and usually that is the ideal rim width for a given size.
